Hotel in Nice Old Town

We are looking for a nice but not £1000 a night kind of nice hotel for one night in August. Any recommendations- ideally a hotel that would have a family room / enough room for 2 adults and a child.

We're gonna need more to go on...

old town you say - what's the occasion? North or south? What do you plan on doing whilst there? Ages of kids? Country walks? Pubs nearby? Childcare available?

Do you mean a hotel in Nice, France?

I think they are asking about the old town in Nice (South of France.)

No advice from me. I've visited but stayed elsewhere. Lovely destination!

We are only there for one night until we move on to Antibes. Basically it’s a mix up on air BnB dates and we need to find accommodation for one night. Since we haven’t ever stayed in Nice itself, we thought we’d find a hotel for the night. We prefer the idea of the Old Town.

Ah yes sorry. In the Old Town of Nice in France - not a nice old town!

I'm not sure there are many in the old town itself. Quite a few along the seafront but they are usually £££

There are quite a few in the area between Promanade des Anglais and Bd Victor Hugo - still an easy walk to the old town and probably less noisy.

Not old town but Hilton in Nice was great for us last year. So good we booked to go back this year!

My DD and her friends stayed in the Hotel des Dames near the Old Town.

They'd booked a hostel which turned out to be horrible so they had to find a new place quickly. They said this hotel was "like the Ritz" in comparison.

Reviews on the main sites suggest a comfortable well-run hotel.

This thread title reminds me of a series of books by Celia Imrie about a woman who retires to the South of France to a little town just outside of Nice. The first in the series is called Not Quite Nice

Try the Hotel Palais Saleya; it’s right on the square by the Palais de Justice. I’ve stayed there several times and recommend.

I see a glass walled bathroom in that hotel.... Nope. I make a point of not staying in any hotel that has them. Vile things, and I don't care if there are blinds, I ask why have glass walls in the first place!

I's stay somewhere near Place Massena. Handy for shopping, the Old Town, and the tram to the station if that's how you're getting to Antibes.

I’ve stayed in three different apartments in the hotel, none of which have glass walls, but you do you.

It sounded great, so I googled it. First set of pictures - a glass walled bathroom!

I don't care if other apartments have full walls, the initial peek was enough for me. There's vast hotel choice in Nice anyway so I will avoid anywhere that has even ONE glass walled bathroom. It's a principle with me. Probably nothing wrong with the hotel, and I'm sure you enjoyed it immensely.

We stayed in the Nice Excelsior for a night a couple of years ago. I'm not sure it is quite in the area you want, but it has triple and family rooms, and was an easy walk to the sea front. It looks like it now has a pool as well which I don't recall before. We stayed there as it's close to the train station and we had an early train to catch. Friendly staff, and they stored our luggage for us the day before as we arrived at lunchtime.
