Kids bedtimes on holiday

We go on holiday soon with three young kids. DS was pretty chill as a toddler and we could take him out on an evening no problem, we just didn’t stay out too late.

DD would nap in the buggy during the day but meals out late were a no go and she’d scream blue murder no matter how much we walked her round. Fine, we used to go out for a very early tea at 5 or put her down at 7 in the apartment and have a takeaway and wine on the balcony. No problem.

They are now 6 and 3 so should be fine to enjoy evening out on holiday but we’ve also got a one year old and I’m not sure which way she’s going to swing but she ls very difficult to get to sleep in a buggy. I don’t want to ruin the older kids holiday by rigidly sticking to the babies routine but equally I know from experience it’s no fun being out with a grumpy baby - what does everyone do for evenings on holiday with different age kids and their bedtimes?

Honestly, with those ages we didn't do holidays that involved a lot of meals/evenings out. We left those holidays til they were slightly older and did more self catering/UK type holidays initially.

Yes, I agree, I was all for a UK holiday at Ribby Hall as I think it will be stressful with three but DH was set on an abroad holiday and so agreed to give it a try.

It will probably put us off for life but we’re committed now. Just not sure how to manage it with the differing ages of the kids. TBF it doesn’t bother me to stay in evenings with a book and a glass of wine but our eldest would be bored. All my own fault for having a third.

I think with three you often have to divide and conquer. Take turns to do evening entertainment with the older two while baby goes back for bedtime.

I agree, youll have to do separate things. Assuming Europe, you can do at least 1 hour later bedtime anyway to account for time difference eg 7pm bedtime uk is 8pm bedtime in Spain. Easier to keep them on uk time
