carseat for flying

I am looking for recommendations for a car seat that can be used on an airplane and is approved. I don't want to spend loads as it will only be used for the airplane. The car seats we currently have are the 360 isofix ones and they are not appropriate for flying. Does anyone have any ideas?

I’ve never seen anyone in Europe using a car seat on a plane.

Why are you looking to use one?

How old is your child and how long is your flight?

I was away this week for a family holiday and both flights my now 2 years old refused to sit in his seat. He's having really awful terrible 2s and is hurting himself and screaming and kicking and causing quite an uproad about sitting in the plane seat and not on my lap. He is also so small we can't physically fasten him in if he is resistant so I was told we would need one as we fly again in a months time and apparently they can refuse to fly if he will not be seated. This time he had to be held on to my lap and put into a baby belt but they said they will not make exceptions again so I want to use a car seat as he physically can't get out of the straps so atleast he is safe and we are following rules.

he is 2 turned in March and it's 4 and a half hours next time. The last one was only and hour and a half but it's just for take off and landing, otherwise they don't mind him being on my lap.

It depends on your airline.

You have infant carrier options e.g. the cybex cloud g but there are no toddler seats currently on sale in the UK that are approved for airline use. Unless you can get hold of an American seat it just won’t be possible so you’ll need to think of another solution e.g. if it’s to avoid damage to the seat in the hold could pack it surrounded by loads of nappies or if it’s for restraint on the aircraft use a CARES harnesszz

It depends on your airline.

The flight we have coming up is easyJet the one we just had was Norwegian Air.

CARES harness in that case.

Also if you go down that route make sure you call easyjet special assistance to book seats where it’s permitted to use it. They do allow them so should be fine, but not on all seats so you would need to check you’re booking the right ones.

Good luck for your next flight!!

Agree with a few posters above that you need to check with the specific airline, either by phone or looking at their website, don't spend money simply on the basis of advice given here..

I’ve seen someone bring a car seat to use on the plane and the airline didn’t let them use it. Be warned thst just because it says on the packaging it can be used on planes doesn’t necessarily mean every airline will allow you to
