Disney cruise?

Considering tagging on a 3 night Bahamas cruise onto our Disney World trip next year. We’ve just come off Icon of the Seas which we loved, Disney is coming out nearly £1000 more than another RC ship but I do have a Disney cruise on my bucket list! Kids are teens now but still pretty young at heart and appreciate Disney theming etc, but will we be bored on a Disney ship after Icon? Is the money worth it?

It depends on the facilities your teens used on the Icon. The Disney ships don’t have all the big extras but have great food, same waiting staff rotating with you, incredible service and the islands look great. The teen club on the dream looked great with an outdoor area for them to hang in at the front of the ship, not sure about the rest. The adult only space was also brilliant.

The ships are much smaller and I think what that brings makes up the lack of bigger ship facilities, however that very much depends on your kids

I have literally no experience of any cruise but if it’s on your bucket list seems like a perfect time to do it while your kids will still enjoy it

You will love it and it will ruin all other cruise lines for you. Your teens might enjoy the included room service, mine certainly did!

@DoneAdulting it’s funny you say that our youngest DS kept asking to do room service!

@SummerFleurs Coco cay was our highlight so we are keen to try Castaway Cay. Eldest liked the sports court and slides, but I keep thinking it’s only 3 days with 2 port days so shouldn’t matter if there’s a bit less to do?

We went on a 7 day cruise on the fantasy 2 years ago and had a lovely time. The Disney ships don't have as much thrill activities as the larger RC ships but they have a lot to do. My daughter was 9 so we didn't experience the teen club but she enjoyed the club for her age.

The food and wait staff were great, it was relaxing and the service great. For 3 days there's more than enough to do without getting bored unless your kids are thrill junkies.

For the private islands, we stopped at Castaway Cay which was great, I haven't been to the new island yet so can't compare.

Disney and RC are both great cruise lines with different strengths so if you have a Disney cruise as a bucket lost item then no harm giving it a shot and you can always go back to RC for your next cruise
