European holiday destinations with easy airport to hotel train transfers

Hi!

I’m trying to think of ideas of destinations that don’t require a coach transfer as I don’t like the idea of our 2 year old not being in a car seat, and our own car seat isn’t very portable. I’d be open to booking private taxi transfers but how can you guarantee they’ll have a decent car seat available?

So I’m thinking of destinations in Europe where you can travel from the airport to hotel by train fairly easily. Any ideas? Can travel in July, Aug or September but I’m assuming September will be cheapest!

thank you

Heraklion is about 5 minutes from the airport by local bus

I’ve had a thread on this before as DS gets incredibly car sick in taxis/buses so we rely on places that are well connected by trains. So far, Copenhagen, Oslo, Valencia, Nice and Paris have all been very easy. Oslo is my absolute favourite of those, especially in summer. We went in mid-July last year and it was brilliant.

Verona airport - train goes to Desenzano (lake Garda). Very easy.

Malaga.

train from the airport serves all the coastal areas along that route from Malaga down to Feungirola.

Unless you are happy with your toddler in a buggy with people standing squashed against her and suitcases rammed on board, I wouldn’t recommend this route. Besides, it’s a really short coach journey to Benalmadena and Fuengirola, even shorter to Malaga itself.

Good idea above but it’s very normal to
A. Get a cheap lightweight car seat for such trips or
B. Get on a bus with everyone else and not worry about it

Florence's airport has a tram which goes directly to the city centre. You will then find a train station with destinations all across Italy.

Thanks all! Decided on a UK trip this summer now but might go abroad next year so have made a note of all these good ideas.

Porto (we went on the metro and it was cheap too)

This was my immediate thought, you honestly cannot go wrong along this coastline. There is also torremolinos which is the closest and just beyond the marina is benalmadena.
