Multigenerational family holiday - Greece or somewhere else?!

My mum has a big birthday next year and wants to go away with me, DH and DD(8). We are looking at either May half term or October. Cyprus, Kos, Crete and Rhodes are on her short list, but she is also open to other suggestions that will be 22 degrees plus at that time of year. Looking for somewhere quite luxurious (think swim up rooms), à la carte restaurants if it’s all inclusive, kids club, ideally close to a town or village. DH, DD and I stayed at the Grecotel white in Crete last year and loved it but it’s a bit too expensive now, so something similar but a bit cheaper would be ideal! Ikos and Sani resort are well beyond what she wants to spend!

I like the look of Ella Helea if anyone has been and has any opinions?!

Do you not have google?

If you want to keep exploring options before booking, consider these equally luxurious, family-friendly alternatives:
Grecotel LUXME Kos (Kos): If you loved Grecotel, you'll feel right at home here. It offers a similar high-end 5-star all-inclusive experience with swim-up rooms and great kids' clubs at a slightly lower price point than their Crete properties.
Grecotel LUXME White Palace (Crete): Since you love this property, try checking their prices for late May or early October specifically, as they sometimes offer big seasonal discounts.
Stella Island Luxury Resort & Spa (Crete): While more known for adults-only, its sister property Stella Palace next door caters amazingly to families with its swim-up rooms, extensive waterpark, and a la carte all-inclusive perks.
Capo Bay Hotel (Protaras, Cyprus): Cyprus pushes (25^{\circ }\text{C}) plus in May/October and boasts incredible beaches. Capo Bay sits right on Fig Tree Bay and is a short walk from vibrant town amenities, offering a premium half-board or all-inclusive experience. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
You can check availability and packages for your mum's big trip on the Ella Helea or compare package deals via TUI.co.uk. 1]

I find Greece amusing, been there several times and the big trips usually take you to a small rock!

I'd be looking at cruises.

Just 4 of you? That's pretty easy with any bog standard AI package as their selling point is catering for all age groups.
I prefer Gran Canaria, better climate, easier packages, island has lots of exploring.

Edited

She goes to the canaries a lot, so doesn’t want to go there this time around. It’s more about finding the right luxury hotel with good à la carte options.

I can see why you thought my response was rude, however been to greece several times, different islands etc, however so much of a muchness hardly matters! Went to Crete with daughter and her family, children ages 14 and 17, had an excellent time but we would have anywhere 5* ... important to have a hire car,

aabbccddeeff · 23/05/2026 22:09

Go to Sani club

jeaux90 · 24/05/2026 09:03

Swim up rooms, decent restaurants I would go to the Atlantico Mare in Cyprus. We stayed in the VIP section it was fabulous

WiseZebra · 24/05/2026 09:08

Hey, I would recommend Ikos or Sani for pure luxury and top quality all inclusive done well. The food and service is another level and geared towards multi gen families. They are located mainly in Greece and one in Spain x
