Any tips for a solo short break in Lake Garda?

Hi
Spontaneously booked a solo holiday to Lake Garda in a couple of weeks. Desenzano.
B&B 4 days. Planning own route from airport (Verona). Train and taxi probably.
I'm a confident traveller and have done a couple of solo hols before, but they have been package type, beach short breaks,to very familiar resorts.
I have been to Italy a few times but always with DP and DC.
Any tips?
I'm think maybe I will be a bit lonely and haven't chosen the best place🤔
I don't speak the language ( do I need to be able to?!).

We stayed in Desenzano, it’s good because it has a train station. All the places we visited were accessible by train or ferry.

Sirmione and Riva are nice.

Hotel palazzo del garda
It says 30 min walk. Which I'd happily do but is it an easy route?

Hmm, putting in the directions on Google maps it's a little convoluted but it is downhill and then on the flat. 2.4 kms. You can always ask for directions if unsure, the people are really helpful.
Personally I would take a taxi but they are pricey.
We stay at the Park Hotel further into town on the lakefront.

Oh I might just walk then. I'm happy to walk 30min. I just hope google maps doesn't keep bloody redirecting! It's not so much the length of the walk it's whether it takes me across busy roads or something confusing. It does say that there's a bus from the train station. Still undecided. I don't want to pay silly taxi fare for a short journey.

Think I will definitely risk the walk. It's daytime and it's only about a mile.

Just jumping on this thread to ask lake garda experts a question. We have booked an apartment beside the train station in peschiera del garda as we thought it would be handy for getting around. Is that fairly central, or would it be a long walk from the town and lake? We don't mind walking but at the same time it's nice to be near restaurants and stuff in the evening. Cheers.
