couple married less than a year ... no house or anything like that. Both just want to protect themselves for future earnings /any debts so one cant have a claim on the other. Is it a straightforward thing? can one of them go to a solicitor and get the form drafted and then send to other to be signed if agreeable terms? any ideas as to cost and where does the form go to or is it held by both of them?
thanks for any help.

yyou're saying something akin to a prenup but being done afterwards? .. it shouldnt be a huge deal but you do generally have to have 2 solicitors for each as otherwise may be less legally binding (not that pre nups are)as courts could hold that either party was not aware of what was signing and therefore doc invalid.

But to answer your question if they know what want to say (ie whats mine is mine etc) , then should be straightforward - shouldnt cost more than a couple of hundred from good local solicitor but you prob do need a solicitor each where both look at agreement and correct it before signing.

If you aren't married, then a simple cohabitation agreement will work fine.

If you are married, you can have an agreement, but marriage laws take precedence.

Should there be children, the marriage last longer etc. the prenup CAN be over ruled.

The point, really, is if you don't think you are going to stay married, don't get married.
