EES - are my fingerprints and photo tied to my passport?

We went on the Eurostar in January and had our fingerprints and photos taken as we left the country. I have since got a new passport - do I need to do fingerprints etc again? I've tried googling it, but I cannot find the answer!

Yes unfortunately. I registered mine on my old passport last December, got a new passport in January and then had to do it again when I went away again in February.

But the good news is that you'll be set for 10 years once you've done it.

Yes, as PP said you'll need to redo it. EES registration is valid for three years or until your passport expires, whichever is sooner.

I travel in and out of Europe a lot: I have to do the fingerprint thing every time (mostly travel by Eurostar).

I'm travelling by Eurostar too. I'll be interested to see the difference between what they do to me (re-registering) compared with what happens to DD (using the same passport and fingerprints!).

Thanks for the replies.

In reality, EES still isn't fully up and running at all ports etc. Plus there have been problems with individual locations being able to update and access the centralised EES system.
Assuming those problems get solved, EES registration does last for three years if your passport is still within date. You'll still have to undergo a fingerprint check or face scan each time, but not to re-register.

So will we be able to use e-gates once it is up and running @TreesAtSea? Because it takes away the need to stamp my passport?

Yes, that's right. That's what should happen once it's all working properly.

I managed to get through passport control quicker yesterday than my dp using his eu passport, but I don't really understand the scanning passport, finger thing, I have done this at least 5 times now, it seems like an extra queue to be told go to e gate.

You don't have to do it again once you have done it once. You can skip that bit and just go straight to the gate. Or that's the impression I got.
