Paris accomm -very near station & McDonalds for autistic son (single parent)

I’ve an autistic 14 year old who struggles with mobility and an autistic 12 year old and I’m a single parent. Son has an eating disorder whereby he only eats McDonald’s nuggets among very limited other things. He wants to go to Paris. I don’t have a great budget and need somewhere near a station so we can get around without him having to walk loads and a McDonalds nearby. Any ideas?

We took ridiculous food on holiday. Wouldn't eat pizza with fake herbs on it. Lolol. Dreadful

the bus network in paris is very good and def better for people with limited mobility than the metro.

it gets better. Honest. (Normally because of a girlfriend! )

I will be thrilled if this picks up!!

I've toyed with this, one child with SEN and one with allergies. A logistical amd catering nightmare.

A serviced apartment might be a good bet? I think there might still be an M&S food in Paris too? Although it would get expensive.

No M&S food post Brexit, sadly.

To access public transport in Paris you need a Pass Navigo. They work for Metro and suburban trains, or for buses ( but not both). I agree with a PP that buses might be the way forward as you really need to be fleet of foot for the Metro. There are McDs all over Paris. There’s a big one just opposite Gare du Nord if you go by Eurostar

Or the RATP app. (See PP)

Or the Navigo Easy ticket (rechargeable via the ticket machines or your phone via the apps). The cost of the card is added to first fare (it's either €2 or 3).

Or direct via the wallet/transport cards if you have an iphone.

Or direct on phone via the RATP or IDF Mobilité apps (either fine, but RATP maybe better for tourists).

Airport to Paris fare is €13 now, but otherwise it's a flat fare, including getting to places like Versailles.

Have you considered staying out at Disney if they would enjoy a day there? It's half an hour on the TGV into the city centre. Disney village where the restaurants are is next to the park but no entrance fee.

awfulapril · 24/04/2026 04:33

Agree wrt Disney. Great idea

Meridas · 24/04/2026 07:37

Do you have disability cards for your DC which would help with accessibility at the airport, at attractions etc? Then you could at least skip queues and hopefully get a bit of help if needed.

Good luck, what a great thing to do for your DC.

Following on from what other PPs have said about Disney. We stayed at the Moxy in Val d'Europe. Moxy are the value hotels of the Marriott brand. It was relatively cheap and it's about a 50 min journey from central Paris and about 10 min train journey (prob less actually) to the Disneyland train station (Marne Le Vallee). They have just finished doing lots of work in the Disney Village which, as a pp mentioned, is free to enter (have to go through security but don't need a ticket). Recently opened is the biggest McDonalds in Europe!!!

Also, do look at Access cards as pp said. If you haven't got them for your DC.

If you have time, maybe have a look on Youtube for ideas on places to go in Paris. There are some really good travel YouTubers.

Have a great time!!!

If you arrive at Beauvais and get the coach to La Villette there is a McDonald's right there, opposite the Science museum. I didn't find it the nicest area so after getting some nuggets I'd get on the Metro and aim for somewhere more central. My incredibly fussy eater was happy with the French nuggets!

Yeah the nuggies aren’t wildly different from the UK (if not better 😂)
