Recommendations for solo UK city breaks

Has anyone got any recommendations for a UK city break for a weekend, solo.

I’d like to have a little getaway, somewhere to explore, but easily accessible by train. I’m not too bothered about what shops are available, but somewhere nice to eat, coffee, take a book and have a wander, maybe a facial or beauty treatment.

The castle is brilliant. There is also Plas Mawr, which is the finest surviving Tudor house anywhere in Europe/the world? Anyway, it’s fascinating. Lovely restaurants, great delis, lots of independent shops. Good fish and chips (watch out for the seagulls!) Oh, and the UK’s smallest house. If you are travelling by car, there are some wonderful and hidden beaches nearby. There is a train station in Conwy centre that has trains to Chester, among other destinations. Lladudno, a Victorian spa town, is only a few miles away, and is also a great place to visit, especially for the Great Orme.

Don’t sleep on Lincoln, I was so pleasantly surprised!
