Anyone managed to get a suitcase back from KLM after it didn’t arrive at final home destination?

Travelled by from Ho Chi Minh on Sunday evening via Kuala Lumpur, Amsterdam and then to final destination of Leeds Bradford. DH and DCs suitcases all arrived but mine didn’t. When we spoke to the Servisair person they said they already knew it hadn’t arrived (they showed me a screen with my details on), added a few more details to be able to contact me and said it should be with me in a couple of days.
I’ve tried to track it with their details but it’s not uploading and after speaking to their customer services they’ve said they don’t know where it is. Surely, if they knew it hadn’t made it to LBA, they just know where it did make it? Anyone understand why happens with delayed/lost luggage?

Unfortunately the end point is the lost luggage auctions if the bag doesn't make it's way out of the system and back to it's rightful owner. But it's early days to be panicking about that although if the tag came off or got damaged, they might not be able to send it on. If it never turns up at some point it will be officially declared lost and you'll receive a token compensation based on the weight of the bag.

But if it doesn't turn up in the next day or two I would ask KLM, LBA and Servisair what should happen next and if they're not giving you a concrete process to follow, I'd contact Kuala Lumpur and Amsterdam via their website - lost luggage and ask them if they're able to trace your bag - they might be able to if you give details of the route and a description of the bag so they can search their lost and found - I get the impression most airports have a fairly well organised storage section that collects up everything that gets left behind by passengers and also going through the luggage system.

My betting is on Amsterdam, I had a bag go missing on a flight connecting there but this was for a short work trip and it arrived at my destination in time for me to pick it up on the way home.

Hopefully there was nothing precious or irreplaceable in there.

@Bjorkdiditthanks for the reply. I appreciate it’s only early days but that’s a good idea to contact KL and Amsterdam lost luggage and see if they can also help.
Theres nothing too sentimental in there, but it’s surprising how much clothing adds up once you realise what you packed!

IDK about KLM but it’s happened to me with a few other airlines and always been reunited within a couple of days.

I mean I really need the What the pho T-shirt I purchased!

We had a very short connection time through Schipol on to Singapore last year. We made the flight (only just) but our bags didn’t. KLM kept in touch with us, let us know our bags were on the next flight and they were in our hotel room the following evening. We were also compensated for having to buy a change of clothes.
Dont give up hope yet, but 4 days later they should be updating you with your bag’s whereabouts.

Even Ryanair managed to get our 3 missing bags to the right airport after a few days (they don't taxi it to your location though).
Also have experience of bags not making connections - best service ever was a bag sent to a separate destination to our actual ticketed destination - we'd booked an internal onward flight with a different airline, and the main airline flew the bags straight to the final destination and taxied them to our hotel - arrived about an hour after we did.
Ryanair had an online portal we could check but it never got updated. We just got a phone call from a woman at the destination airport.
Good luck! Hopefully they'll turn up soon.

i think its very likely but not certain that they will be located and returned to you in the next few days.Schiphol is a huge operation and some bags will go astray but it doesnt mean they are necessarily "lost".

Tip for next time. Get an airtag or similar. I've heard plenty of stories of people getting their baggage back (faster) due to simply informing the airline of where the airtag says the baggage is.

Thanks all, as you all thought it was missing in Amsterdam. They said the label had come away.
it’s now back with me.
Will definitely be looking at some air tags for the next trip.

Another tip I would suggest is to write down your full name, phone number and flight number to your destination and put this piece of paper on top of the luggage. If the bag is opened this info can be then used to get your bag to you quicker.

Glad to read you’ve got your case returned.
