Interrail - which is the best website to buy the pass from?

I’ve read the info on Seat 61 - there seem to be a few options including the main Interrail site, Rail Europe, and Trainline.
Any one had any experience good or bad with each option?
I used Rail Europe to get the Eurostar pass a few years ago and they were impossible to contact to make a change

One thing to be aware of - if you're not going to that many countries and you know the exact dates/journeys you want to do, it can be cheaper buying from the individual rail companies.

We did a 2 week trip travelling from Rome to Munich via Florence, Venice, Verona, Innsbruck and Salzburg last year and it was far, far cheaper buying tickets from Italian Rail and Austrian Rail

This is what I was going to say.

Generally, the Interrail site is best for buying the pass itself. Occasionally, when there's a sale, Allaboard Travel will make the pass refundable when the main site doesn't, but that doesn't apply to the sale that's on right now (15% off till 31st March).

In my situation (live a long, expensive rail journey away from London, usually constrained to school holidays, usually travelling with DC (one over 12 so gets a youth pass, one under 12 so gets a free pass!!), the Interrail pass always works out cheaper. Even when I went for a long weekend in Amsterdam with my ex by train in March last year it worked out slightly cheaper to buy a 4 day Interrail pass rather than single tickets!

Thanks all - it’s for DC post exams, so at least a pass will mean they can regional train hop if the high speed ones are booked up in the summer. Once the pass is booked it’s all up to them anyway (I did it in 1992 with just a massive paper timetable and ‘Katie’s guide to interrailing’ so I’m sure they will work it out with the benefit of internet and an app!)
