OK, I'm an idiot and also my diamond shoes are too tight.

We're going to South Korea in less than a week, will be travelling around various cities mostly by train. Everything has been booked and sorted for months - not a package tour but all components booked via an agent, IYSWIM.

Today I'm looking through all the travel documents that I swear I already checked multiple times, back when the trip was booked. And I have just this very minute realised that I failed to book transport between Busan and Jeonju. Thinking back, I might remember discussing with agent whether to go by train or coach or private transfer, and I never told them what I wanted.

What's the best (and preferably cheapest) way to get this sorted now? I'm thinking coach? Can anybody recommend a Korean coach website? Or should I wait until we're in Korea and get it organised there?

Get the Rail Ninja app. Train is 3 hours ish and around 70 USD. Korea is cheaper now as the won has dropped significantly recently. NAVER Maps tells me a taxi is around 280.000won which is reasonable for a 3 hour transfer.

ChatGPT suggests:

🚍 1. Direct Express Bus (Best overall for most travellers)

  • Time: ~3–4 hours
  • Cost: ~₩17,000–29,000 (£10–£18)
  • Route: Direct (no transfers)
👉 This is usually the best option because it’s:
  • Direct and simple (no changes)
  • Cheapest option
  • Very comfortable (reclining seats, good legroom)
Buses run frequently from Busan’s main terminals and go straight to Jeonju. 💡 If you have luggage or don’t want to deal with transfers, this is the easiest choice.

Thanks both, given the cost I think the coach (express bus) wins as there are 4 of us.

You can take a bus from busan, buy tickets on klook.

If you get the bus from Busan it goes from the bus station in the north of the city but it's an easy change from the metro.

We usually get the mid level buses as they offer spacious, reclining seats with USB ports etc. The service station stops are interesting too but don't be late getting back to the bus - they like to leave at the agreed time.

Thank you! Have just downloaded the klook app Smile
