I’m looking for some inspiration and thought I’d ask here. Me, DH and DS age 15 are hoping to go on a much needed holiday for a few nights, just after DS completes his national 5 exams (Scotland) and before school returns from study leave.
Is there anywhere your teen loved that you would recommend. We need to fly from Glasgow or Edinburgh which limits us a bit.
We love London but we’ve been lots of times and maybe would fancy somewhere with a bit more guaranteed sun and slightly more relaxing as I think DS might be knackered after his exams.
I’m wondering about Palma-I love it but worried DS might be a bit bored. Thanks

Just been to Nice for three nights. Flew with EasyJet from Edinburgh. Great in its own right and as a base for exploring from Cannes along to Menton. The trains are great, reliable and reasonable.

@Jammin8oh that could be lovely! DS would love to see all the nice cars.

The areas surrounding Nice are lovely, as suggested, and May would be a goodtine to go before it gets too hot.

It’s half term week so I would first look at flight prices on sky scanner because they have gone up. Flight prices aside, southern Europe will be hot. I’m going to Seville next week and it’s 27 degrees C. Can’t wait!

Paris would be lovely at that time of year, as would Naples. There's also Lisbon, Amsterdam, Jersey?

Paris

Done lots of these. My favourites were Cavtat, Seville, Budapest and Malaga. With a teenager I would say Split.

Another vote for Krakow-Auschwitz and the Saltmines are a must.

We’re just back from Malaga (4 nights) and flew from Prestwick, it was brilliant! I would stay in soho area next time in the hope it’s quieter than the old town for sleeping.
We’ve also done in last couple of years from Scotland - Palermo, Lisbon, Santander/San Sebastián, Seville and Granada. I recommend all of them but for 3 nights only wouldn’t do San Seb or Granada as they involve long coach journeys there. I think out of all of them a 15 yo would like Lisbon best.

Thanks everyone. Is Malaga a bit ‘scruffy’? That’s my probably wrong thought! And is there much for a teenager to do?

Amsterdam or Berlin. Plenty to keep teens busy - but also nice chill cafe relaxing/people watching in parks/squares culture. Bit of everything in both - history, art, shopping and mooching. Both super easy from airport and walkable/public transport very good.

sociableintrovert123 · 27/03/2026 17:02

@Springtimebear Amsterdam is definitely somewhere we’re thinking about. Thanks for the info.

I spent 5 nights in Malaga this January with my 18 yr old DS. We had a great time, you can do a bit of beach, or just stroll on the pedestrianised prom or harbour and get a drink and chill. Some easy sight seeing (the castle and alcazbar up the hill). We went to a video games (very interactive) museum and spent about 3 hours there, it's open late so great to fill the early evening period. So many great places to eat.
There are lots of art museums but that's not our bag but we quite enjoyed Picasso's birthday home as more of a social history.
Malaga can be a bit scruffy but it's part of the charm, it's a real city with similar issues to our cities (homelessness etc) but I never felt unsafe (I was never out late but went for a few solo runs in the early morning/evening).

@sociableintrovert123Can you get to Bologna? Great for food and you csn visit the Ferrari museum via the train. Yes, it’s a museum but most men like it!
