Things to do/see in Norfolk

Hi all,

We’re a family of 4 with two DC (5 and 8) staying in Mundesley over Easter and would love some recommendations for things to do locally. We've never stayed around this area before!

We’re happy to travel a bit, but ideally looking for family‑friendly stuff nearby — beaches, animals, Easter trails, rainy‑day options, anything that keeps both kids entertained. Also, any local leisure centres, bowling, cinema suggestions etc...

If anyone knows any hidden gems around Mundesley, North Walsham, Cromer, or that general stretch of coast, I’d really appreciate your ideas.

Thanks 😊

The seal tour boat trip at Blakeny is lovely!

Sheringham park

The three National Trust places nearby all have family Easter activities: Blickling, Felbrigg and Sheringham Park.

Sheringham has a lovely steam railway. East Runton beach is great for fossil hunting.

Mundersley has a crazy golf course.

This all sounds great! I'm writing it down and will look into it once DCs are asleep. Thank you!

Horsey Gap to see the seal colony. We saw them on Saturday, over 100 on the beach, fantastic

Have a lovely time. Mundesley is a great little village with a nice park and very nice beach. The Ship inn does great food and has a lovely beer garden overlooking the sea.

Pensthorpe good for that age - nature, landscape and play (including indoor when wet)
though a bit pricey

Also Holkham hall and Holkham beach, Wells beach and the woods behind it are good, there are usually (non safety certified) rope swings

Cromer has a really cute cinema

The beach at Mundesley is great for digging and kite flying . There is also a skate park and an outdoor gym behind the seafront car park

If you get hit with rain and need indoor things - bowling alley and soft play at JRs in North Walsham.
The pool in Sheringham has a 'splash pad ' with water jets and fountains.
There is a cinema in Cromer - the regal MoviePlex.

A small zoo in Cromer - Amazona - not all that impressive.

Walk along the pier in Cromer

The Musselburgh Collection - a tank museum in Weybourne

Sheringham is a charming little resort town

West Runton beach is lovely at low tide - not much of it at high tide so check tide times. Good for fossil hunting.

beaches: Walcott or Mundesley are nearest nice ones, Sea Palling & Sheringham are nice (low tide in Sheringham) if you want to go further

animals: East Runton horse sanctuary or Amazon zoo in Cromer. I'd say both are fun for 2-3 hours. There is a good town playground near the zoo. I love the quirky down market shops in Cromer. I feel the pier chips are nicest but we always go to Mary Janes like most the locals.

Easter trails: Felbrigg probably is nearest NT place that will have an event on

rainy‑day options:
Victory pool in Walsham has fun session in afternoons; Sheringham pool will have something similar. Rossis in Walsham. Bloggs museum in Cromer.

Your kids are just about old enough: something you can do is walk the whole way (maybe 5 miles?) from Mundesley to Cromer & take CoastHopper bus back. Check times bcz bus stops running around 530pm. Bring snacks and water. Chips & ice cream in Cromer, of couse. Fossil hunt on the way. This is a way to kill hours ...

A shorter version of that is to park up in Overstrand & walk to Cromer & back, look for the Banksy on the way. Walk on beach at low tide & on cliffs at higher tide. Overstrand has a decent playground (I'm still bitter that it was closed in 2020 summer, though).

Local leisure centres: Cromer sports centre may have some activities, else Victory in Walsham is closest.

bowling: ... and soft play, Rossis in N. Walsham.

cinema suggestions: Atrium in Walsham might have something on.

Cromer Pier theatre is fabulous. Check out their website to see what’s on.
