Algarve and heat

We are looking at going to algarve when schools break up around 19th july. We are big fans of Majorca but worry about it being too hot and humid then. So we thought algarve may be cooler with a breeze.
is this true?
Also we love snorkelling with the kids - can u do this in algarve. Is the water still turquoise?

Not sure Majorca is humid? Yes Algarve coast is breezier but still hot! Whet about northern Spain?

We went to Vale de Lobo on the Algarve in August and it was low 30s the whole week cant say i noticed a breeze.
I didn't rate the sea in that area, the beach shelved sharply into the sea which together with the waves made it unsuitable for my 8 yo. May be better in other areas in the Algarve.

I think I meant in July Majorca may be muggy sticky heat rather than humid!

Is the water still turquoise?

I've seen this question asked several times on various similar threads recently.

Why the obsession with turquoise? You realise that the water isn't actually coloured?

Majorca is definitely better for snorkelling than the Algarve, also in Portugal you’ll be swimming in the Atlantic which is cold especially compared to the warmth of the sea around Majorca.

As others have said the beaches are lovely but the water does get deep very quickly and did I mention that the water is really cold. I’d stick to Majorca.

It definitely isn't.

Maybe I've had bad luck but I always seem to encounter excessive heat in Portugal. I've been keeping an eye on the weather in Porto as thinking of booking a weekend there and it's in the 20s already.

Maybe try a bit further north, eg southwest France, if the heat will be an issue.

You can't snorkel, its the Atlantic.
Weather, who knows. Variable

We went to Porto in late July (2022) and it was around 25 degrees in the middle of the day, it might only hit 30 degrees on a couple of days. That seems to be the norm. Agree it's surprisingly warm now, but you can check the actual temperatures in summer from 2025.

It's definitely cooler in the Algarve. The sea is the Atlantic so cooler than the Med and not suitable for snorkeling but great for surfing and body boarding.
