Advice needed - quiet holidays

I'm hoping the MN Hive might have some ideas...

One of my family has seizures that can be triggered by unexpected noise eg dog barking, child screaming, door slamming. They are mostly housebound for this reason.

We want to go on a family holiday. In the UK this has worked if I find a s/c cottage, that's relatively isolated, and I drive.

Going abroad is cheaper, and we'd like to visit Spain or France. I have mobility issues, so places that are hilly aren't great. I don't want to drive due to the cost of car hire.

The most affordable option seems to be a resort or city break, but I can't see how it would work without risking constant seizures.

Have ou looked on Canopy & Stars at their range? I think you can specify the search for isolated places to hire?

That sounds very difficult,
Could you take your own car? Maybe take the a ferry to say Brittany? You could get a cabin on the ferry so that your family member could have relative peace and quiet and also privacy if they do have a seizure. And then stay in a quiet property in the countryside?
Or if they could manage a longer journey, there's the crossings from Plymouth or Portsmouth to Santander or Bilbao and although the North of Spain is mountainous there are lots of nice coastal areas which are fairly flat and will be fairly quiet, especially out of the main season.

Why not drive to The Netherlands. It’s obviously completely flat and there are places in the countryside that are more off the beaten track.

If you are a family of adults I suggest a river cruise, they are extremely peaceful.

If you don't want to drive, have you identified a mode of transport to France or Spain that wouldn't be a seizure risk? Finding somewhere suitable to stay once you are there seems relatively straightforward, but I am struggling with you you can get there without the risk of any sudden loud noises if you don't want to drive.

Why not take your own car if you are going to France, or are you a long way from the south coast? Either the ferry or Eurotunnel work. You could take a ferry across to Cherbourg and then you are within easy reach of lovely beaches and countryside in Normandy and Brittany, or you could drive on south to the Loire or the Atlantic coast. Even the south is doable by car from the UK though I wouldn't drive as far as Spain.

OP, does or can the family member wear noise cancelling headphones?
They would massively help with getting about.

My first thought was Ile du Normoutier , west coast of France, it’s much quieter than Ile de Re but getting there without a car is a problem.

Are you thinking of a single location for the duration of the holiday?
