We just went in the Feb half term as it is the cheapest time to go. You’re taking a punt on the weather, but it was luckily dry and quite warm for the most part.

We booked on love holidays last year but im not sure if they've stopped it? We stayed in the grand magic with a free shuttle and paid just 309 pp for 3 nights (didnt include park tickets)

If you are restricted by school holidays the Feb is the time to go, if not then mid to late january it can be cold but in the 6 times we've been during those months in never actually rained at all! My kids even took their coats off one year as the sun was shining and it was quite warm.

Cheapest transport is to drive. We have tried all the different ways and found this by far the best, we use the eurotunnel.

We usually stay on site in the santa fe, it's basic but cheap and it has the bonus of having a small petrol station just outside the main gate that also sells some food. You can walk to the parks along a flat path or get a shuttle bus (they get crazy hectic) staying on site means you can get in earlier in the morning.

We book through Disney directly for the hotel and park tickets and book the travel ourselves.

Take some snacks with you and refillable water bottles. Also get ears and character wear/costumes before you go.

Investigate all options, including for example the two day/one night packages as sometimes the hotel only costs £50 more than buying only the park tickets. Look at staying offsite before and after if you end up booking a package, or if the packages are not cost effective. If using public transport the B&B hotel in Torcy is a bit like a travel lodge and it's basically at the train station in Torcy, which is 3 stops about 13 minutes from Disney. We stayed during the Olympics so it was €200/night, but I think normally a lot cheaper than that. There are lots of off-site hotels at varying prices and obviously if you have driven you have even more options, there is a closer B&B hotel than the one mentioned but not great for using public transport. Also buying park tickets from the German or Italian official website and paying in euros is a bit cheaper than the British website charges in pounds, provided you are using a credit card with no foreign currency transaction fees. I have no idea why the price isn't the same.

January is probably cheaper than most months, stay off-site, buy tickets that only allow 1 day per park, take snacks or visit a local supermarket on your arrival day to stock up with snacks. Travel costs is going to depend on how many are traveling and where from, look at flights versus driving, ferry versus eurotunnel, if you are in or near London then the Eurostar to Gare Du Nord can be cheap if booked on release day and the local trains from GDN to Disney are very cheap. If you want to stay on site then book when the dates are released (Usually in the first week of September), on site stays include 2 park tickets for every day of your stay so can work out cost effective depending on how many people. There are lots of hints and tips on Facebook groups and on You-Tube that are worth looking at.

Driving is really easy and cheap, the ferry or tunnel is easy to navigate and much cheaper than flying plus train tickets etc.

Term time is much cheaper and quieter but do check if there are particular rides you want to do etc as term time is usually when repairs are done.

The opening of the new frozen land is going to effect price and crowds this spring/summer though so do check on this.

Don’t bother with one of the fancy hotels, Cheyenne is a favourite with our family and is one of the cheapest options. Santa Fe is also fine.

There is a brand new McDonald’s in the Disney village for cheap food options, earl of sandwich and Starbucks also offer a cheaper breakfast option than the hotels which are expensive for breakfast.

If driving you can also take snacks, breakfast items etc!

Disney controls the ticket prices so you won't find much variation in ticket prices (Attraction Tickets sometimes throw in small freebies such as photos).
If you stay in an on-site hotel (Disneyland Hotel, Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel, Newport Bay, Sequoia Lodge, Cheyenne, Santa Fe or Davy Crockett Ranch) the ticket prices are heavily discounted in the packages so it isn't always cheaper to stay in a cheaper hotel.

Davy Crockett Ranch is self-drive only so you would need a car if you stayed there but it has kitchen facilities so you can save on meals. We stayed there the last time we went to DLP and took cereal and coffee with us, and then picked up milk, baguettes, butter and jam for breakfast plus snacks and supplies for other meals from the Auchan at Val D'Europe. We had 3 nights/4 days and apart from food prepared in the lodge we had one quick service meal, one buffet meal and an early lunch at Earl of Sandwich on our final day (DD1 was flying home and the rest of us were heading west for a camping holiday in the Vendee so we wanted something to keep us going).

There is a few days in November that was quite cheap when we went - it’s between the Halloween and Xmas theming.

tutugogo · 08/03/2026 18:50

We drove, we stayed in Disney accommodation as you get an extra hour and it’s close, at the time b&b was included (this I think has changed) McDonald’s by the station is huge and cheaper than any Disney outlets. You can stay off site or book self catering to save more, have water bottles and resist those expensive merchandise opportunities
