Taxi from Pisa airport - child seats for baby?

Hi everyone

We are flying to Pisa soon for a short holiday and have a 9 month old baby, are there any recommended taxi companies that we can pre arrange a taxi with a child seat?

Don't want to risk trying to find a taxi when we land as not sure how common child seats are.

The airport transfer companies are very expensive for a relatively short drive so I'm hoping for some local company recommendations.

Advice appreciated 😀

I don't know about car seats or where your hotel is, but can you use the Pisa mover to get to central station and then walk instead? That would negate the need for a car seat. Last time we flew into Pisa, our Ryanair flight was a good 2 hours late, we landed at like 1:15am, the queue for taxis was epic and there were no taxis arriving so we walked 20 minutes to our hotel which was at central station. I probably wouldn't recommend the walking option, particularly at 1:30am, unless desperate.

You don’t want to risk a hired car seat. Checking a seat is also risky for damage. Book your baby a seat on the plane and use an airline approved car seat. Then you will have one at your destination.

Yeah, I'd definitely recommend public transport if you can. But I don't trust unknown car seats.

There’s a train of buses, much easier

I’d just take a car seat with you. Lots of airlines including Easyjet let you put them in the hold for free. We had a “spare” car seat for this purpose.

I agree - take a car seat. Preferably one that can be quickly fitted with a seat belt.

We took our car seat with us. Used it in the car to the airport then wrapped it in black plastic at the airport and checked it in.

Those that recommend taking car seats with you - what do you do with them when not in the car? So for example if you need to take a taxi to visit somewhere - do you carry it around with you the whole day? I’m planning a trip in May and can’t get my head around how to do touristy things with a car seat - ours is much too heavy to carry.

@2BarbieOrNot2Barbie we took a travel stroller with car seat adapters, so we could push the car seat, and a carrier for the baby, as well as a picnic blanket so they could have plenty of time stretching out.

You get a cheap light one to take with you

admittedly never done the day trip in a taxi thing though. We’d either stay put/take public transport or hire a car.

I’ve only ever used them for transfers or in hire cars. Day trips would definitely be trickier.
