8 days to decide - Would you cancel a Turkey holiday for early May?

We’ve booked a week in Turkey for early May. Paid £240 deposit and would be charged another £1200 to cancel now. Total holiday cost £4000 (not relevant but this includes cost for one teen DC who is no longer coming).

Balance due March 11th. Given the ME conflict we are worried about travelling to Turkey. Travel insurance won’t cover if Turkey does get dragged into it as it’s a war.

Would you take a hit for £1500 now and cancel, rather than risking losing the whole £4000 if Turkey become involved in the conflict?

The advice for Turkey is exactly the same as it was when I went last year. That said, we had plans to go this year, but won't be.

We're the same.
Been many times to different resorts in Turkey.
Had a booking for early summer this year and have cancelled it.
I know Turkey is a massive country, but we're not willing to take the risk of escalation of fighting, terrorism or flights being cancelled while we're away.
It's a personal choice and I'm comfortable with the decision we've made.

We're fully paid off a Turkey holiday end of March and will absolutely be going, unless it gets worse or advice changes.

We are from London though and so we understand the propaganda around safety very well. Example being, we don't avoid trains, busses or public places despite the very real threa to us being 'likely' or 'very likely' and have not once been robbed or st*bbed like the media hypes up.

So all of this to say, I'm sure you will be absolutely fine. X
