What price should i expect to pay for a week in Europe

Just wondering how much I should expect to pay for a week self catering in Europe for a week for May half term for 1A and 3 teenagers.
I just had a quick look on Jet2 and it was coming up as £5k - £6k. This seems extortionate to me. What am I missing?! Or is this the price for a week self catering in Spain?! I was hoping for more like £3k.

How long is a piece of string?

With regards to costs…half term is not your friend.

At a lot of hotels teenagers will be classed as adults. This will be set by the hotel, rather than the tour operator.

Depends where you’re going, how you’re getting g there, what accomodation you want. We’ve got a week at may half term for accomodation, flights and car hire for £1,000 for family of four. Chose a cheap eurocamp and cheap flights!

Four adults at half term is going to be pricey.

Where are you looking at going? I would think you could get something between £4 and £5k but it won’t be luxury.

A tent in rural Poland - cheap
A 5 star villa in Monte Carlo - not cheap

You could get it cheaper by booking direct using Vrbo or similar then booking your own flights. Ryanair is often cheaper than jet2 but be careful of luggage charges. Often you can get a public bus to the accommodation instead of paying for a transfer.

If you book early, which is a boat you've probably missed for this year, you could get the flights for £250-300 pp return and then £1500-2000 for an apartment or small villa, which would meet your £3k SC holiday target.

But even as a package, that price does seem a lot for SC, is it high end accommodation, eg villa in Mallorca?

Try EasyJet holidays or book the elements (flights / accommodation) separately. Unfortunately May half-term has ramped up in cost. I still think you could get something closer to 3K than 5K.

Do you have the jet2 app?

I’ve just put it in for you as I paid way less than that for two adults four kids.

first result, £3500 all inclusive Ibiza. Ten under £3000 all inclusive.

self catering Spain. £1600.

this gives you any free places and discounts.

ive based it on your kids being 14 15 and 16.

and I just randomly picked airport.

Depends on where you’re trying to go but a quick look at Skyscanner suggests that flights to a lot of holiday destinations are about £500pp, though a few can get down to £370 with awkward flight times. Airbnb would typically be about £1200 but again you can find the odd cheaper one. So I’d say anything less than £3000 was going to need finding a good flight combo if you’re DIYing. Not surprised if packages are coming out more.
