Would you go to Disney World Florida?

Just after some opinions on Disney Florida with a 7 year old. Myself and my husband went years ago, before having our child, and we're thinking of going in October next year. However, for the price, we could get a lovely holiday elsewhere, and still have change.

So, money aside, if you had a choice between Disney or a beach resort holiday elsewhere, what would you pick?

Trump aside, I would pick Disney, I am not really a beach holiday person though. Maybe if you pay for a beach a holiday and a weekend in Disney Paris for less money, that might me a tempting option. I have also not been to the Orlando parks, but have been to the Asian Disney parks and to Paris. I didn't think I would be a Disney person, but enjoy it far more than I expected.

Shittyyear2025 · 20/02/2026 12:14

I've been 3 times, twice with my dc, all paid (either in part or full when I was a kid) by my parents.

It's eye-wateringly expensive. Flights ok, you can get decent accommodation away from the parks, car hire on a par with elsewhere. Food ok price-wise really.

But the parks are insane. Pay $200 ISH per day per person. Add $30+ per day to park. Food in the park. Souvenirs. Queues everywhere. Heat and humidity.

For the same price you could go AI in Europe very comfortably. Perhaps more than once. America is a big place op, there's lots more to see than 10 square miles of Florida!

Absolutely, a perfect age.

MidnightPatrol · 20/02/2026 12:17

Why not spend a few days at Disney, and a few days on the beach?

mondaytosunday · 20/02/2026 12:19

I went to Disney years ago as an adult with a friend. I’m not into rides so didn’t do that but I felt the Epcot Centre was very dated and felt like it was money money money from the minute you enter. However, if your kid is into all things Disney maybe it’s worth it, and perhaps things have been spruced up. I think there’s better out there though.

FeelingALittleWoozyHere · 20/02/2026 12:23

Ive been multiple times and absolutely love it, although I prefer universal nowadays. Yes, its expensive and needs alot of planning etc but I love the parks and rides and shows etc. 7 is a great age too. Just depends on what you all enjoy as a family tho and how patient you are with queuing!

HollyIvie · 20/02/2026 12:27

It is expensive, but personally I think it’s worth it for the memories. I still remember a Disney trip when I was 10. My kids loved it.

HeadyLamarr · 20/02/2026 12:28

Seven is a great age for Disney

OriginalUsername2 · 20/02/2026 12:41

Disney 100%

Pepperedpickles · 20/02/2026 12:48

I’d do Disney for a week and then Miami for a week. Hire a car. Do both.

Flyingwithmytoddler · 20/02/2026 14:24

Thank you all for your replies, you're definitely convincing me 😁😁

I really want to take my DS (I’ve been multiple times but prefer Universal) but the queues I’ve seen really put me off as we’d have to go in the holidays. He’s got adhd so struggles to queue anyway.

redboxerclub · 20/02/2026 14:33

Id love to do Disney! Some great offers if you get free Disney dining plan and cheap parking tickets. I’d do a week and then cheap flights or pay with point on Avios and go indirect. We do this and go business class but it’s a bit of a job that my husband facilitates .

For me and DH I priced it at 1500 each for a week at port orleans riversides including DDP and tickets.

That is a good deal. If

We went two years ago with a 8 and 11 year old. One of our best holidays! BUT they both found Disney quite baby like, Universal was 1,000x better for their age and thrill levels.

RainRainRain2025 · 20/02/2026 15:25

We went a couple of years ago, and it was amazing. I did not expect to like it, but loved it. Epcot was one of our favourites. It must have been many years ago when the poster who found it was dated.

We also went in Oct half term and found it a great time to go. We didn't find the queues long at all and didn't need to pay for fast passes. We stayed for 2 weeks, and it wasn't long enough we felt as each of the 4 parks need at least 2 days. We did not even attempt the waterpark.

ChristmasGrit · 20/02/2026 16:45

Perfect age. Go for it x

KevinsSignatureShortdeads · 20/02/2026 17:14

October is the best time to go as the Halloween theming is so fun. If you’re lucky enough to be there on Halloween itself, make sure you go into the town of Celebration for trick or treating or just visit in the days before as all the houses will be decorated.

tinyspiny · 20/02/2026 17:19

Surely it depends what you and your child / children like doing . When ours were children most of our holidays were Disney Florida or Disney Paris as neither of my children were entertained by swimming pools or beaches . As adults they still prefer either city breaks / theme parks .

RichPetuniaAgain · 20/02/2026 17:47

I’ve been twice with my daughter. Both times she was in her 20s. It was years ago now but we still talk about some aspects of that trip. We also did a day trip to Miami, the Everglades and Kennedy Space Centre. The standout was the space centre, so much more impressive than you think it’s going to be. If you can, add on other excursions, but Disney itself was also great with fab things to do in Orlando if you choose to stay close by.

Doseofreality · 20/02/2026 17:54

I’ve been. It’s hell on earth.

interesting mix of stressed out families, frogmarching tired over stimulated children around, determined they will enjoy themselves as they’ve spent a fortune to be there, alongside creepy adult Disney enthusiasts.

The over the top false niceness of staff will make you hate people.

The food is shit.

RandomUsernameHere · 20/02/2026 18:01

Disney, I’d absolutely love to go to the Florida one. Also Universal. Both my DCs and I are massive theme park fiends though, DH hates them!

Pinkissmart · 20/02/2026 18:03

Nope, wouldn’t go the the USA at this time , for any reason

springawakeningss · 20/02/2026 18:05

Disney! We've been loads and going again this year.. DC is 7 but I think me and DH love it more🙈

Wishfulthinking1977 · 20/02/2026 18:43

We are going Oct next year, 12 of us with 4 kids 7 and under! 😂As others have said universal is better but Disney does feel magical especially with little ones. My biggest tip would be get your park tickets here there are a couple of sites that do great multipark deals some include parking. We have been multiple times, it's tiring but great.Hope you enjoy it.

HarryVanderspeigle · 20/02/2026 18:50

At 7 I would probably do disneyland Paris. Cheaper way to test the waters and see how much she likes it. Also the size of the Florida park is immense. I started looking into it a couple of years ago and found it all so intimidating. So much walking for little legs. You could do dlp amd a beach holiday for the same price.
