Travel Insurance query - worried I wont be covered

I am with StaySure and have been for a few years now, I have tons of pre existing conditions and a number of referrals on the go which count as 'undiagnosed/investigations' which wont be/not covered

I booked a holiday in November for this month which is a cruise and didnt realise you have to have specific cruise cover to phoned to update them today

In the meantime last month I was referred for an MRI for increasing migraines/headaches getting worse etc etc

So she couldnt proceed with the cruise update and has to refer to the underwriters who will be in touch. No timeframe and we go next week. I should have rang them earlier but normally Ive updated them about various referrals which havent required sending to the underwriters and they keep asking about outcomes when of course Ive been waiting so long for consultant appointments to proceed with the various referrals.

She was quite robotic so it was difficult to ascertain if I am actually covered right now for anything, any trip?

I did wonder whether I have to update on every little GP appointment and she said yes, each time, not just at renewal. Im at the doctors quite a lot.

I've found that many insurance companies won't cover you at all if you're on any sort of waiting list for anything. But AllClear will cover you (they just don't offer cover for the issue that's being investigated) and I also got offered cover from BrokerSure.

But its best to keep your insurer completely up to date - don't give them any excuse not to pay out.

Not sure on your usual coverage, but you absolutely must have cruise cover for a cruise. They spot check on embarkation. I believe you need up to £2m repatriation coverage, and usually cruise cover will include the airlift to the nearest port if necessary too.

Who is your cruise with? If P&O and you booked select fare I'd phone and get the cruise changed to one in the future.

Or find a different insurer?

Well at the moment thats the situation with my own insurance, the referrals that are in process (rheumatology/ENT/spine specialist) I assume are not covered, they havent denied me cover overall for those

I expected her to say that she'll update the policy but anything relating to migraines wouldnt be covered (although migraine is one of my pre existing conditions anyway), but she said it has to go to the underwriters to see if they can cover and she cant add the cruise cover until then

My insurance is nearly 200 a year anyway due to various pre existing conditions, seems to bump it up every time I tell them about some mundane thing, like starting HRT or whatever.

Does the cruise company offer insurance?

Yes its on the website, but wouldnt I have the same problem?

No insurance covers anything with 'awaiting investigation' thats the first question most insurance asks.

Im going to phone them back as Ive just realised, by reading the All Clear website, that technically this recent scan may not be a 'undiagnosed' condition because its for migraines and tremors which I have as a pre existing diagnosed and declared condition.
