Belfast with my sister

DSIS and I have a weekend away each year, and this year we fancy Belfast neither of us having been there. We are both around 60 and in reasonably good nick. We like mooching around cities and visiting galleries and museums. I'd be very grateful for any tips about the part of town to stay in, and things to see that we might not have considered. TIA to mumsnetters from NI.

I love Belfast, there's loads to see and do! Titanic experience (recommend the ticket with the guided walk before you go round the museum bit), Crumlin Road Gaol, HOHO bus tour is worth doing, walk around the grounds of Stormont is lovely, there's some exhibitions on local history inside the city hall, there's black cab tours of the murals, botanic gardens, take a day trip to the coast and Giant's causeway if you have time.....you won't be short of things to do! I've always stayed in the area around Europa bus station and city hall as it's easy for getting the bus in from the airport.

Agree with PP the bus tour is so interesting and the Crumlin Road gaol was fascinating and eerie.
We stayed in the premier inn I think it was that was just off the bus station. Lots of lovely restaurants, we went to the Ginger bistro not sure if it’s still
there.
The Titanic museum was good as well.

Belfast is an excellent choice. Anywhere around the city centre is fine, most places are walkable. Take the bus tour, with a live guide, it’s the best we’ve done. Titanic museum and the science museum nearby are really good.

I went with my sister last April. We're late 50s. We stayed in a hotel in the Linen quarter which was a bit pricey but lovely.
We enjoyed walking around and stopping in a couple of pubs. Restaurants were nice but we should have booked as they were busy.
We got a bus to the Titanic Quarter and walked back via a couple of pubs. That was a nice afternoon.
My favourite part was getting a bus to the Falls Road and walking between there and the Shankhill, alongside a peace wall back to Falls Road. Locals were really friendly and keen to chat.
We also did a coach trip to the Giants Causeway via a castle ruin and the Dark Hedges. It was a nice day out and lovely to see the beautiful countryside outside the city.

This is gold, thank you!

Had a brilliant long weekend in Belfast to! We did air b and b but was 4 of us.

Loads of great pubs, often with live music during the day and loads of things people have suggested.

We got a fair few taxis and they couldn't do enough and we're always explaining what we were passing by and history etc.

If you like a pub check out some of the older ones.

Quick tip. Have cash as well as cards and phone. Cash is still king on the island of Ireland and better to have and not need.

I was there a few years ago with friends, we stayed in the University area. Hotel was lovely and the staff were really helpful. We did the Titanic Tour (I strongly suggest booking in advance and also get the audio guide).

We did the Black Cab tour. We would have preferred to walk around but the weather was terrible that day.

We had a walk around the City Centre and attended a couple of event that were taking place there. We were really sorry that we were not there a couple of days longer and plan to return.

We hired a car and went to the Giants Causeway first and stayed up on the coast for one night and then stayed in Belfast (both stays were AirBnBs). In Belfast we did the Titanic Museum and the Black Cab Tour. The Black Cab Tour was fascinating and we learnt so much about the past and present troubles - it's a must do!

Oh and you must have a drink in the Crown bar, preferably a Guinness
