Denmark Holiday "camp sites"

Ello MumsNet.

Ive got some flights booked to Copenhagen in June and was hoping to visit a camp site (More Centre Parcs than tents) Any recommendations?

I have a hire car booked for the whole week so was hoping to hop over to Odense as my LO LOVES Hans Cristian Andersen and significant other would love to see Egeskov Castle.

Lalandia Billund

Lalandia Billund is the opposite side of Denmark to Copenhagen, and not particularly close to Odense either, but it's an ideal location for the original Legoland (far better than the UK one) and the fabulous Lego House. Even adults can get sucked into spending hours in Lego House building things, making animations and generally wallowing in millions of bricks.

Camping in Denmark does not just mean tents. Many, if not most, camp sites have log cabins to rent as well as tent pitches and spaces for camper vans. Almost all major towns are on the coast or on a fjord, and there are camp sites pretty much everywhere along the coast.

Lalandia is about 3 hours from Billund. Pretty straightforward, motorway most of the way. The route takes you straight past Odense, which is where we broke the journey both times. You can’t beat the indoor tropical swimming complex. There aren’t quite as many activities as Center Parcs, but there was still enough to keep the dc busy.

For clarity - Lalandia Billund is 3 hours from Copenhagen. Billund itself is a good choice because as well as Lalandia there are all of the Lego activities and also the WOW Park.

If the OP wants to make a road trip out of the visit, rather than doing day trips from the Copenhagen area, then stopping off in Odense would work well - H. C. Andersen's House and museum is in the centre of the city - and there are also other sights along the way. Koldinghus Castle in Kolding is interesting, with costumes for kids to dress up in. Okolariet in the centre of Vejle is fun for a couple of hours. At Jelling there are Viking rune stones and a good Viking museum. Billund is also quite close to Silkeborg, where there is the AQUA activity centre and where the museum has the Tollund Man bog body.

There are also Lalandia resorts in Rødby on the Baltic coast and over on the west coast of Jutland at Søndervig. Neither of these two resorts is close to Copenhagen - Rødby is closest - or convenient for Odense or Egeskov.

This place is absolutely fab- great facilities including indoor pool and trampoline park if weather not good. We had beautiful weather in August though. Gorgeous spa area, open to kids early in the morning too.

it is 3 hrs from Copenhagen but we found driving so easy in Denmark

The area around Hvidbjerg Strand (and the entire west coast area - Henne Strand, Vejers Strand and other small beach resorts) is beautiful and has lots of places of interest to visit - but as with the previous suggestions on the thread, Hvidbjerg Strand really is about as far from Copenhagen as you can get in Denmark, and nowhere near to Odense or Egeskov.

Visit Denmark is the website that the OP needs to search for camping sites and other options. The description of Hvidbjerg Strand Camping is typical for many camp sites in Denmark, with log cabins as well as tents, indoor play facilities and pools etc. The OP can search on the interactive map on the Visit Denmark website - if Copenhagen/Sjælland and Fynen are the areas that are of interest, it is possible to search for camping sites in these areas.
