Peru package - which company?

We're planning a ten days break in Peru in August. There are so many companies that provide guided package tours, we are at a loss as to which are genuinely good. Does anyone have experience of this kind of holiday and who would be safe to book with?
We want to see the main sights (Lima, Titicaca, Machu Picchu) happy to have a day or two hiking but also would like time to relax and mooch in markets. We'd like some level of comfort/luxury but it doesn't have to be glamorous.
Any advice or experience re who to go with gratefully accepted. Thanks

Exodus are good.

I went with Explore and it was a full 2 weeks, both Exodus and Explore are guided group tours so not sure that is what you are looking for? Audley will organise private tours if you have a bigger budget. Trail finders probably also got options. Peru is fabulous, enjoy!

Can definitely recommend Alex at Tribes Travel. They are a small but specialist company. We did a fab tour with them, totally bespoke and private. Really good value vs some of the large companies.

We had a family trip in Peru a few years ago. I booked everything direct with local hotels and tour agents after researching online. You can do it without a travel agent if you want to.

We went with LLama Travel - Peru, Ecuador & the Galapagos. It was very well organised, I'd recommend them.

I’ve just booked with Stubborn Mule. They specialise in family holidays and did us an amazing customised agenda, including the 4 day Inca trail trek. We go in August so can’t comment on how it was yet.

How old are your kids? I only did the one day trail when I went in 2002, would love to go back and do the full thing, but youngest is currently 11 but would be at least 13 by the time we could go

@KiddyMcKiddly 10 days is short. Flights from uk are not direct. We went via Madrid. So that takes longer. Then you often fly within Peru which takes up more time. You really need 2 weeks because you will struggle to fit it all in. Maybe look at specialist companies like Journey Latin America or Llama. We went with dc and used Families Worldwide. You mugger want to consider Colca Canyon and Arequipa. Lake Titicaca is very high. Altitude sickness can be an issue. Cusco is amazing and so is MP. Trecking takes more time up too.

Amazonas Explorer will build a programme around your preferences - relaxed days plus all the outdoor adventures and all the sights you wish to see. Highly recommended

12 and 15. They have done the three peaks in the U.K. so are used to long walks.

I did it with Exodus, which was great and a very well organised trip but it was 15 days, the Essential Peru itinerary which also allowed time for altitude acclimatisation.

We chose Cox and King. Their arrangements, attention to detail, quality of hotels and guides were flawless. Everything worked. Planning included gradual elevation prep to avoid altitude sickness. Tailored tours are offered.

We used Journey Latin America, they’re very knowledgeable, gave excellent advice and organised a bespoke tour which exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended

Ok probably similar then. We haven't done the 3 peaks but we are bagging Wainwrights in the Lakes, so can bash out 15km, maybe not without grumbling, and have been up Pen-y-ghent and Ingleborough, but not on the same day.
