Can anyone recommend a location based on the following requirements?

  • Solo trip, warm, early June 2026
  • Easily flyable from UK, preferably Gatwick
  • Quiet, adult-oriented small hotel (no sunbed wars or screaming kids) or apartment with balcony and pool/beach
  • Pretty location with walkable bars and restaurants
  • Reliable public transport for scenic days out
  • Budget no issue

Thanks 🙂

Take a look at Cascais near Lisbon. A really lovely small town on the coast with a range of nice hotels and apartments. Day trips include Lisbon, Sintra and along the coast line.

Here in Paguera Mallorca.

Lovely hotel and food, bus to/from airport, Palma (so you can see the city and also get the train through the mountains to Soller) and a few other places, 3 nice beaches, pedestrianised main street with loads of restaurants, ice cream shops etc) .

Lidl for snacks etc for the beach (we only ever have hotel breakfast then either a late restaurant lunch and evening balcony picnic or snacks/ice cream in the daytime and dinner out).

You can also walk about half an hour through a pine forest to a small quiet beach with a sheltered cove for swimming.

I should point out that 90% of people who go there are German but there's still loads of Spanish food.

But Mallorca would be a good shout for your holiday also Santa Eulalia in Ibiza.

Minos Beach Art Hotel is one of the most relaxing hotels I’ve been to. It’s a 10 minute walk from the shops, restaurants and cafes in Agios Nikolaos. The town is quite big so I’m sure the public transport is good. There are boat trips which leave from the marina.

Hotel Esplendido in Port de Soller, Majorca. It does allow kids, but it was quiet in may half-term, loads of sunbeds scattered through the garden, most of which were empty and so plenty of space to escape from children. They also have 2 small(ish) pools, one is adults only.

Seconded. I did it the other way round by staying in Lisbon and visiting Cascais and other places,
If I wanted a pool based holiday I would definitely stay in Cascais and sightsee from there.

I have been to Cascais and Lisbon before but will follow up on the others. Keep them coming!

We stayed in a lovely adults only hotel in Palma Majorca. It was reasonably full in October 24 half term, but no children! Easy bus or long and pretty coastal walk both into the centre and the other way, lots of sun beds, fabulous breakfast…,

Malaga has it all imo. Beaches, history, culture, great food, retail therapy, architecture, and is the gateway to so many great places to visit.
