Paris with 10 year old

Heading to Paris at half term with DS who is 10. I know Paris pretty well but have only taken the kids once, when they were tiny.

He'll have a limited tolerance for traditional big galleries and museums - we'll go to the Orsay and to Les Invalides but beyond that don't have too much planned. He loves things that are a bit left field or unexpected. Sadly the catacombs are closed which would have been perfect!

I'm planning lots of wandering around/looking at things/cafes but being February want to plan for endless rain.

Hit me with your favourite niche, quirky and fun Paris finds - bonus points for anything under cover!

I can’t remember the name but there’s a museum with antique funfair rides.

This was a big hit with my dc. We went twice! https://www.ephemera-group.com/nos-restaurants/stellar-paris There’s also one called Jungle Palace which unfortunately wasn’t open when we went.

Another highlight - a treasure hunt at the Louvre https://thatmuse.com/louvre/

Atelier de Lumières is a very engaging immersive art experience which out whole family enjoyed, and we also did a street art tour.

We did some good balades énigmes - which out like treasure hunt walks.

There are some great people to follow on instagram with lots of suggestions for food and hidden treasures.

loads of foodies too. Best bakeries etc if you are in to that.

The toy boats at jardin de Luxembourg are so much fun!

I thought of something else- I think it’s called cafe pli where you can write a letter to yourself that is posted in 1/3/5 years. My DS is a similar age to yours and would love it.

Medenagan · 07/02/2026 11:08

Our 10 year old enjoyed the boat trip, PSG stadium tour and Cite des Sciences. I’ve heard good things about the Museum of the Sewers too.

Medenagan · 07/02/2026 11:10

Tour Montparnasse was a big hit too.

gototogo · 07/02/2026 11:16

Musee d’armee and napoleon’s tomb went down well with mine at a similar age, added bonus was is was pretty empty. I’d look into the passes as most dc prefer shorter visits to several museums rather than all day. My DD’s loved Versailles but it was warm and dry, the gardens were amazing, took a whole day, they were loving the fabrics etc which perhaps stereotyping, but I’m guessing ds would be less into

These are amazing, thank you all so much!

I was also going to suggest Tour Montparnasse, which has a viewing gallery fully under cover and you can see the Eiffel Tower. Excellent if you can’t make it up the actual Eiffel Tower. We also liked the bateaux-mouches.
