Berlin city break recommendations

I've got 3 days in Berlin with my adult daughter at the end of February. We've booked cheap flights and a hotel near Hackescher Market S-Bahn station. We are keen sightseers and able to walk decent distances. There are loads of ideas for 'must see' places on the internet, but you can't beat personal recommendations.
If you have been to Berlin - where would you recommend? And where would you avoid? Thank you x

Just be aware it's way, way worse than grey winter skies - I have family in Scotland and go there a lot, I've never experienced anything there comparable to the vicious cold in Berlin. I was there last week and the streets were so icy it was pretty much impossible to walk anywhere, people were falling over all over the place and a chunk of the U-Bahn was down because - apparently - electricity pylons had frozen. Plus flights all cancelled. Funnily all the Berliners moan just like the Brits about how badly organised everything is for the cold. Not to put you off, you can still enjoy yourself but it's still a shock.

Umbilicat is absolutely right on this. It’s absolutely shocking right now, even the hardcore Berliners are struggling. In over 30 years I’ve never experienced the streets being as slippery as this. There was an ice storm last Sunday night /Monday morning, which dumped sheet ice on the streets that hasn’t melted since. The entire tram network was cancelled for the first time ever too. DD went arse over tit on a path last Friday, she was lucky not to break something. Bring your spikes, you need them! Under German law each householder is responsible for clearing the path in front of the house, so the state of the path changes every 10 metres or so. Walking around is hugely tiring.

Even worse: it’s going back up to zero in the next few days and then down again, so everything will melt and then refreeze. The current windchill temp is -9 at 1pm.

We did 6 nights in total, 4 in Berlin and 2 in Potsdam. We loved Potsdam. But we did have a 9 month old with us so were on a much a much slower itinerary, and we went in June in glorious weather.

I’m not normally a cocktail bar sort of person, but I can very much recommend The Alchemist at Potsdamer Platz (very central too). They take a molecular approach to cocktails which is great fun.
Eating out - you’d gave to narrow that down a bit, too much choice otherwise. Are you veggie, vegan? What kind of cuisine do you like or want to try? Are you thinking fancy or more street food? What district are you staying in?
