“Holiday clubs: is occasional fast food acceptable?”

Hi
I will be running a 5 Day Podcasting course for kids aged from 8-15 in the summer holidays in Kensington and Chelsea. I would like to provide lunch but because I'm not a food business, I thought about getting hot food delivered. Would parents be ok with Pizza, Burgers & Chips and Chicken? These foods will be from Donimos, KFC and McDonald's. Or parents can opt out and provide a packed lunch. All feedback welcome. Thanks.

Maybe as a one off on the last day but not all week and it would cost a fortune. Packed lunches are normal for holiday clubs IME.

I would be ok with that once during the week, maybe on the Friday, but def not every day. Not only is it unhealthy but the costs will add up quickly. I’d be much happier writ something like pre-bought sandwiches and fruit. Or even better just don’t offer lunch. Most parents aren’t aren’t going to base their decision about an activity on having go pack lunch.

I'd say don't offer food.

No, I wouldn't, once would be fine but not everyday. You'd end up with a load of sluggish, windy and agitated kids by the end of the week. Not to mention lots of kids won't eat it or would be really upset to watch others a with a McDonalds when they weren't allowed.
I expect to make a packed lunch for my kids for day camps, it's a mix of healthy food I know they enjoy and some nice bits to keep them going, plus a treat.
Pizza on the last day would be a great compromise though, and an incentive for hard work and good behaviour as a team.

My kids have always had to bring a packed lunch. Saves you having to stress about allergies too.

Very unusual to have food provided in my experience. Packed lunch is much simpler and parents will expect it.

No, that sort of food should be a Friday end of the week treat only, not every day. There are plenty of companies that will deliver sandwich buffet type food. But the easiest would be packed lunches!
