Wondering if anyone else has been to Disneyland with young children, mine are 6 and 4 and constantly talk about wanting to go but not sure if they are old enough to fully enjoy it yet...

We did it at both 7 & 8. A lot depends on whether it’s a one time only and what personalities your kids have. Are they adventurous and like big rides but will be too short? Or are they more timid and will only do the smaller rides regardless of how old they get.

It’s full on and tiring. I’d personally say if you’re only going to do it once, waiting 2 years until they’re 6 & 8

Ours are 5 and 7 and we went just before Christmas. They’re not too young but I wouldn’t go back. With the queues we managed 6 rides and a show in 2 days. It was ok but took the kids to Gardaland in the summer and we’d all rather go back there - at a fraction of the cost!

We went at ages 3 and 4, then again at 10 and 11. We enjoyed both trips, but we don't do any big rides. We just enjoyed the atmosphere, the mickey food, and the shows/parades.
I would say life is too short to wait for the best time for anything, go when you can. They may not be asking to go next year.

We went when dc were 6 and 4 - they were 3 months away from being 7 and 5. We took the pushchair and it was used a lot, they were still just about small enough to cram in together!

It was good, a lot of Disney magic, the only ride dd1 was too small for was Indiana Jones. DD2 is not one for big rides anyway even now, you still won't catch her on Big Thunder Mountain and she's nearly 11. They both loved Buffalo Bill Wild West Show too which I think would have been lost on them any younger.

Stay on site, make use of the early magic hour and keep an eye on the app and you should be able to be relatively strategic about the queues.

We took our 3 last summer for 3 days - ages 5, 7 and 9. It was brilliant! Our 5 yr old DD was completely caught up on the magic! I'm so glad we went while she still believed it all. We arrived for opening and got lots of rides done in that first hour. It's a lot of walking, but we just about managed! I want to go back again soon so she can enjoy the new frozen attraction while still young, but need to convince dh first!!

Not too young, but you do need to consider how well they will manage all the walking and consider renting or taking a push chair. We went when the kids were a couple of years older than yours and they did get overwhelmed. We were informed on of the Disney hotels, so went back for a swim and a rest in the afternoon, then back to the park in the evening when it was quieter. You do see a lot of kids acting up, but have to consider that they didn't choose to be there and are out of routine in a sensory overload land.
