Beach holiday in Romania

Looking at a multi destination holiday. 2 adults and a 9 year old. Romania and Moldova. Any advice?

I went to Constanta a few years back. It was grubby, the sea was polluted from inefficient sewage treatment plants and the beach had loads of plastic washed up.

There were also a fair amount of older men with younger "girlfriends" in thong bikinis. Not somewhere I would ever choose to go again.

Bucharest is interesting, though take care around the train station as there were pickpockets and lots of people around that felt a bit dodgy. Brasov and Sighisoara are nice too with lots of history.

I would do a beach holiday in Romania only right down near the Bulgarian border. Constanta is a run down port town, albeit with some beautiful run down buildings, Mamaia is like Benidorm. Bulgaria is much nicer. Instead of the coast in Romania, could you go to the Danube Delta instead?

There’s also not a lot in the Republic of Moldova. I’d go to Transylvania instead.

Thanks for the advice! Maybe need to rethink

Definitely rethink.
Sibiu and Brasov are both beautiful towns, in the mountains. Sighisoara near Sibiu is also lovely.
stay well away from the coast, grubby and extortionate

There are lots of amazing places in Romania but I wouldn’t go for the beaches. If you want a beach holiday somewhere “different”, have a look at the Baltics or Poland. I haven’t been myself but the beaches look amazing. Romania would be better for exploring cities, mountains and countryside.
