Advice on a trip to Florida

We are planning a trip to Disney Florida in October this year.

We will be staying in a Disney hotel for the first week and then want to move to a villa for the second week. We’re not sure which areas to look at for the villa.

We will still want to visit some Disney parks the second week, like the animal kingdom, as well as the space centre and universal alongside some more relaxing days.

We don’t mind a bit of a drive to these places (we plan to hire a car) but want a nice area with good restaurants ideally in the evening.

Any suggestions would be great thanks.

And with a villa, wherever you stay it’s likely to be a treck over to universal and Kennedy is on the coast so at least an hour or more to get there

We stayed in vista cay which was a short drive from universal. Am I right in thinking Disney is near there? We absolutely loved it. We did universal and epic universe last year and are going again this year. October is hurricane season though I believe?

How easy is it to get to the Magic Kingdom from other resort areas? Would you need to stay there all day really i.e. couldn't pop back easily?

Nope you can go back if you want. We went with grandparents etc and they could go back to the hotel if needed, and once my husband wasn't feeling well so he went back himself. I then was happy to take the kids on my own the next day, its so easy. My and my eldest also got the bus to watch fireworks when others were tired. Its super easy and simple to use. (That's why if we went back again we wouldn't bother with the villa. But it was nice to have our own pool for the week)

FWIW I loved Kennedy Space Center!

Do you desperately want a villa or just to stay cheaper offsite? We stayed at Sonesta suites in LBV and could self cater or walk to loads of restaurants but was a cheap uber to WDW or Universal- we didn’t hire a car.

We want somewhere with our own pool / a more relaxed vibe the second week.

I mean fair enough about the Disney hotel and that’s your choice…
BUT we always did a villa for the full 2 weeks as I found the parks for me needed a day between them I just found it too much otherwise!!

and the inbetween days were relaxing by the pool - perfect mix!

we just got up early and drove to the parks and were in at opening time

saved heaps as well as we could eat at home as well and have breakfast before we left etc
