Naples in feb half term?

I really want to go away but can’t afford anywhere warm or the skiing holiday they we’d all love!

Im now looking at Naples. We have two teens (14 and 16). Plan would be lots of mooching, Pompeii, catacombs, and eating lots of pizza.

i know we’d need to wrap up warm but that would be the same wherever we go.

Has anyone else been at this time of year an / or with teens and could advise?

We went to Naples for October half term 2025 so a recent visit. I had seen all the warnings and actually felt really safe there (except when crossing the road). No sign of pick pockets yes there were some very grubby run down areas but they were easy to avoid. We walked everywhere and never saw dead pigeons (bird flu? The abundant cats?) Or any rough sleepers. We loved the catacombs and both Pompeii and Hurculanium. I'm not sure I would like it as much in the heat and crowds of summer.

We went with our 15 year olds and stayed in pompei at a lovely little family run hotel with a pool. We wanted a different holiday than our usual ones.
We all loved it! Getting the circumvesuviana train meant we could go everywhere. We all loved pompei and Herculaneum, Naples was great, plus other coastal towns on the train route (no beaches though 😕). We went in August and the heat and humidity were hard to bear- so going earlier in the year would probably be lovely!
BTW our twins are not culturally minded- but still loved it! Do book a tour at pompei and get a very early one.

I was very disappointed by Naples
rough, dirty and run down - went this summer
i would stay elsewhere and go there for a day trip
the pizza is fabulous tho
tran travel in Italy is very easy as are ferries etc so look at basing yourself elsewhere and doing Naples in a day

We went to Rome and Pompeii last Feb half term (We have 3 teens). We had a great time. Weather was warm enough - jumpers or light jacket weather.

We only changed at Naples train station so can't comment on the grittiness of Naples - we were a little bit disappointed with Pompeii as didnt realise all the artefacts have been moved a museum in Naples so Pompeii is now mostly just the ruins - which were good but we were expecting more 'things' and we didnt have enough time in the schedule to go into Naples. We went up Mount Vesuvius too which was good.
Rome was amazing. Have been before and always love it - lots of pickpockets apparently though - kids did take the mick out of constantly being vigilant on the metro etc!

I like Naples. The back streets are fascinating; all of life is there. There is so much to see.

We stayed facing the cruise port near Municipio metro and the Castel Nuevo. This is one end of the pedestrian area. We've stayed there a couple of times without any problems. I really like Naples. Love the Spanish Quarter. I didn't find anything frightening apart from maybe the traffic.
