Flat-ish areas of Lisbon

After saying we'd never go back, we're considering a trip to Lisbon. However I have sworn I'll never stay in Alfama again due to the hills! We did visit different areas of Lisbon but I seem to have blocked them from my memory.

Does anyone have any recommendations of areas that aren't basically on a near vertical hill 😂 even better if you could recommend accommodation. I'm not expecting completely flat but after a horrible experience of needing the toilet and trying to race up the hill back to our Air BnB it really has scarred me!!

After saying we'd never go back

what led you to this conclusion? Just the hilly terrain?

Baixa down near the river is flat. Not sure on hotels but that’s where Cristiano Ronaldo’s hotel is.

The bit near the time out market is all flat, but you still have to walk up hill to get anywhere more central (unless you head out to Belem)

Where we stayed was just a killer getting up to it. We also had completely different weather, half the week it poured (not great with those hills) the other half was absolutely scorching (again, not great with the hills) and we got horrendously sun burnt! The cruise ships coming in was a bit of a pain with the crowds of people. I've also never been on a holiday where we have been offered drugs so many times! The area we stayed in also didn't feel the safest. But now we know what and where to avoid and have given it a few years, I think we'd like to give it another chance. We'd probably do more day trips as well which we didn't do due to how bad the weather was last time.

We stayed in a lovely appartment in Graca - though right up one of the hills It was near the famous 28 tram and various bus routes down to Martin Moniz (which is flat).. Uber is really cheap in Lisbon. I never walked up any big hills at any point.

Negotiating hills en route to a bathroom can't be funny but it is an interesting criteria for accommodation. I would suggest the areas around Baixa and Avenida da Liberdade.

Somewhere around Rossio? It's flat and lots of restaurants there. You can also catch a tram from nearby out to Belem or just walk down to the waterfront.

I actually didn't mind the hills and steps but the heat was too much for me when I was there.
