We love both Les Mouettes and Domaine Les Ormes.

Needlenardlenoo · 11/01/2026 12:48

What are your criteria?

MissAmbrosia · 11/01/2026 13:43

St Avit Loisirs / Les Peneyrals in the Dordogne. Siblu La Carabasse in Languedoc. Also liked Les Ranchisses in the Ardeche, Lac du Chalain in the Jura and the Riviera villages near St Tropez. Kontiki is fab but one of the others might be better with small kids.

I loved the water park at Les Mouettes. Water really warm. Campsite had a nice relaxed feel and our chalet was clean. The beach by the campsite is very rocky and not the best though.

It really depends on what your looking for they are not all the same. Ones we have liked include La Sirene, Club Farrett, Praires la Mer, Playa Montroig and Sanguli

Domaines des Ormes is fantastic. We spent a week there and I had planned day trips but in the end no one wanted to go on any because there was so much to do at the site! The pool setup is amazing.

How old are your children please?

Needlenardlenoo · 11/01/2026 18:05

I'm not the OP (we had a lovely time at Domaine de Drancourt in the Somme though).

Our main criteria are:

  1. Nice pool(s)
  2. Close to Chunnel or ferry (90 mins if possible)
  3. Something for teens/area where child might meet other teens
  4. Interesting historical stuff (although in the Somme, Domaine de Drancourt is a bit far for WW1 day trips although it'd be amazing for birdwatchers)
Needlenardlenoo · 11/01/2026 18:05

Child is 13

Lisanne55 · 11/01/2026 18:06

Another vote for Domaine des Ormes. Ours were 11 and 8 when we went.

Thunderdcc · 11/01/2026 18:12

How far are you willing to drive?
Les Alicourts and Chateau des Marais are both 2 hours-ish south of Paris (so 4-5 hours from Calais) and they're both fab.

They were 6 and 3 and we went with another family whose kids were 8, 11 and 13. All of the kids loved it!

We had many holidays in La Garangeoire which used to be a MN favourite. Loads to do on site and a short drive to nice beaches.

Looking forward to taking grandchildren there some day!

It’s very personal - loads of people love Domaine des Ormes and I can see why, but it just didn’t click with us. As well as criteria, what are your travel arrangements? Are you going to drive and if so, how far are you willing to drive (eg it’s 10-12 hours from the Channel ports to south of France)? Or will you fly and if so, are you happy to hire a car?

Our favourites from recent years are Ranc Davaine (Ardeche) and Serignan Plage (Languedoc) but both need a car as they are quite isolated. Les Peneyrals was also nice but we stayed before Covid so I don’t know what it’s like now.

We loved Les Trois Vallées in the Pyrenees. Liked the site itself, premium lodge options, and walking distance to a great town.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 12/01/2026 10:28

Are You taking kids, if so what age?

Are you flying or driving? If driving how long are you prepared to drive?
