Eurocamp recommendations?

chickpea1982 · 09/01/2026 21:12

Can anyone recommend a particular Eurocamp resort? There will be 5 of us travelling in May - 2 adults and 3 children, aged 9, 8 and 2. I used to go to Eurocamp as a child, but haven't been back since I had children so not sure what to expect.

We want to go somewhere relatively close to the UK (ideally not more than 3.5 hours flight), with a beach nearby and good places for snorkelling. At least 2 waterslides (one for bigger kids and one for toddlers) is also a must! I've been looking at the ones in Sardinia, but haven't yet ventured further afield.

I'd really appreciate any recommendations.

Will you be hiring a car?

Valamar Camping Istra in Croatia has nearby snorkelling and a great selection of waterslides.

We could do - I haven't thought that far ahead yet!

Bella Italia on Lake Grada but don’t know about snorkelling

I really liked Bella Italia on Lake Garda for the location. Flights about 2 hours ish. 30 mins from the airport to the site and transfers were easy to find and reasonable. No hire car needed at all. Lots and lots of options for what to do- local lovely town a walk away, train station to Milan/Venice/Verona very easy, boat trips to places around the lake, also busses to water park and theme park if wanted.

We have been trying to find a similar but different site elsewhere but most seem to need hire cars etc

Does it have to be Eurocamp or are you asking for self catering biased lodge style accommodation near or on a beach ?

Playa Montroig

Two eurocamps that we have loved are playa montroig (Spain) near salou and you can do side trips to Barcelona but would need a car for that. Smallish site with two nice swimming pools and on the beach.

or union lido near Venice. Massive campsite with better pools and and more stuff for the evening. Also straight on the beach. But Italian campsites close down at 1pm for siesta. Ie pools close. It’s so hot we were happy to siesta but beach is still there if you don’t. Loads of people go straight down to beach at that point.

didnt snorkel at either - I love diving - is snorkelling anywhere in the med good? Reason I ask is that if snorkelling isn’t going to be great anywhere - maybe that is least priority?

with your children’s ages I would recommend union lido.

Has anyone been to both Bella Italia and San vito at lake garda to compare the two?

Mooselooseinmyhoose · 11/01/2026 09:31

For Lake Garda i always recommend Altomincio. Bella Italia is MASSIVE and a bit of a scrum. Altomincio is much smaller but very close by so all the same features really. Both close to the alton towers equivalent theme park and a good zoo as well as the lake garda towns.

This might be a useful read, I follow on social media, for first hand reviews.

This site in Italy, doesn't have it’s own slides but is near a water park.

I was thinking the review may give you more general information of things to consider for any of the camps/areas you research.

We liked Camp Butterfly near Lake Garda. Reasons: you could walk it from the station (Peschiera la Garda) but does take about 20-25 mins. Near the lake (5 mins) where there are all manner of entertainments for a reasonable price (pedaloes with slides). It is near Gardaland. Nice big pool, sunbeds, kids pool, and there is a slide, but not that big. Kids club (not experienced myself as did not have kids that age but seemed lively enough when observed) Restaurant was fine and OK priced, bar, facs were good and clean (loos, laundry etc,), The van was OK (it is very simple, but it did the job). Site went quiet about 11pm, which suited us. Little shop on site, which was "good enough", we actually went to the supermarket with a rucksack (again 20 mins walk to 3 different ones). My only negatives are they will not let you in early, and they will not let you stay late (which is fair enough) and don't forget with EC that they need you to book a linen pack which is relatively expensive (or just bring your own if you are buying a bag on the plane). Because we could have day trips out (Verona, Padua and Venice) on the train (very cheap, and plenty of timings) it was really great for two parents of teenage kids.
