I hate BA short haul are they any better longer?

Last time I flew long-haul with virgin to San Francisco I vowed never again. The seat pitch was so bad and the seat so uncomfortable - this was in 2000 are they any better now?

personally i like the sound of the seat pitch on AA. youre right, theyre rude as fuck, but the seat pitch wins for me.

CD

Would suggest you look at www.seatguru.com re airlines and seat pitch.

Virgin aircrew tend to be younger in terms of age (some look like they only left college a week earlier) and can be sometimes offhand as a result towards pax. Their seats, particularly in economy, are poor in terms of both comfort and seat pitch. I personally feel that Virgin were innovative around twenty years ago but are now complacent and have cost cut on service. Even my friend who actually works for them has said this!!. I have used both them and BA over the intervening years and have certainly seen Virgin decline markedly. Their cost cutting is evident. Other airlines have caught up with their innovations and have superceded them.

And VA no longer serve choc ice during the flight!!. Gits!!. Again, cost cutting.

Have found BA's aircrew to be better overall in terms of service offered.

Delta are supposed to be good too
Is it a lot more to fly with diff airlines on diff bits of the journey? eg could I do on on outward and another on homeward?

I need to go

LHR to Washington DC
Then
Charleston West Virginia to Boston
then
Boston to LHR.

It will cost you very dearly to use a different carrier for the outward and inbound leg of this trip. Also flying into one US airport and departing from another can cost a lot.

Would therefore suggest you use the same carrier for both the outbound and inbound sections of the journey from the UK. The internal US flight may also be expensive and children tend to pay adult priced fares.
