Talk to me about Eurocamp please!

We haven’t been abroad much as a family as we have lived our touring caravan holidays to Devon. Kids are now 13 & 12 and the van is getting a bit cramped especially if unlucky with the weather. We’d love some waterslides and I’d like some sun. Is Eurocamp the way forward?

DH doesn’t like flying so we’d rather drive and/or get a ferry. We live East in the UK.

If you're already used to touring caravans you will not go wrong with euro camp!

There some amazing camps camps all over Europe in some lovely destinations.
If you're driving just take all the usual bits you can take all your home comforts and apart from fresh food take what you might need and buy the rest locally.
We have never found it over priced, always been clean enough (we have taken some cleaning products with us or bought locally) well equipped and enough to do.

Would suggest shopping around though as other companies like canvas have properties on the same sites and often comparable.

We used to go through the Eurocamp brochure, find the nicest campsites, and then book the site's own mobile homes for half the price.
That doesn't work if you want your kids to join the Eurocamp kids' clubs etc, but it worked for us.

Oooh thanks for the tips. I assumed all the accommodation was Eurocamp -
not different providers on the same site

There is also Yelloh for France, though we’ve not used them.

Ferries vary a lot - Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth are much more expensive but save a lot of driving if you’re heading to the south-west or west of France. Cheapest options are from Dover usually. If you’re East of England and interested in the Netherlands, the Harwich route is good.

Would highly recommend Yelloh Villages. We stay in South France, but if you want to drive there will be many nearer sites for driving.

Eurocamp as a business has gone downhill, agree with finding a campsite you like and book direct with the campsite. They usually have better units in nicer locations!

Would recommend Yelloh also.

Could you give any recommendations for places/camps?

I personally wouldn't book direct through Euro camp. They seem to have the oldest accommodation in the worse location at the sites we have been to. Euro camp dont have their own campsites, they rent areas of other sites.
Try Yelloh, Sandaya or Les Castels. If yoi are driving and ferry/tunnel, consider how far you are willing to drive and work out which areas to look at. France is great for camping

Will pp stop recommending Yelloh!
I don’t want to pay more as it gets popular!

We prefer Yelloh! over Eurocamp and Huttopia, the latter being expensive for what you get imo. Though as pp mention we’re also seeing sites adding their own cabins for rental.
