Disney Land Paris

We are planning our trip to Disney Land Paris for April school holidays.

We’re going with another family. There will be 9 of us all together. 5 children aged 1, 5, 6, 7 and 8.

We will be driving over from Dover and plan to stay 6 nights, doing 3 days at the park.

We are looking at Air bnbs or the only in budget hotel is the Davy Crockett. Here are my questions:

  1. Is it worth considering an Air bnb that would work for both central Paris and Disney?
  2. Is it better to drive and park at Disney or use public transport?
  3. Is it more cost effective to park everyday or use public transport? If we got an apartment we wouldn’t get the parking free
  4. Any recommendations?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We stayed in the park but it was pretty full on and expensive. We’ve had lots of friends who have stayed at Center Parcs nearby.

Stay as close to the parks as you can afford, especially as you’ve got very small children. As PP said, it’s very full on and it’s hard to appreciate how absolutely draining a full day in the parks can be. After 3 days, you will be shattered! Staying close also means than an adult can nip back to the accommodation if you forget anything, or take a child back if they’re feeling unwell or need a nap.

We went in the summer with our GD. On site hotels were hideously expensive so we stayed in central Paris and got the train which was a 45 minute journey and is right on the park. They run really late so we still saw the light show at the end which started at 10.30 in the summer months. My friend tried to stay at a midpoint between the park and Paris and wished she hadn't as they weren't close to anything. At least being in Paris meant we could step out of the door and he in the middle of things for sightseeing and food.

We flew into GDG airport so didn't have transport

You can stay at somewhere like the grand magic cheap enough and they have a free (but very busy) shuttle service to the parks. We only paid around 300 each for flights, transfers and hotel for 3 nights

If you can afford Davy Crockett then I’d say go for that! We’ve stayed there a couple of times and it’s great. You need to bring the car but it’s only a 7 min drive to the park and you get free parking. Very easy. You also still get the Magic Hour in the parks. The Davy Crockett bit has a nice restaurant and pool and little shop and it’s quite atmospheric for the kids. I’d choose it over the more expensive hotels even if money no object because you have a kitchen and living space etc!

I went for Halloween week last year, we stayed in Val d’Europe which is one stop away from Disney and has supermarkets and a shopping mall - stayed in a room with kitchen facilities so we could do breakfast in the hotel, make lunch to take with us, then we ate out once a day. We did two days sight seeing and two days in Disney which worked well for us (two adults, two teens). It was about 45 mins to travel into central Paris for sightseeing and we got a week long travel pass which gave us unlimited travel.

Villages Nature Center Parcs is 10 mins drive - about the same as Davey Crockett. You get Magic Hour access if booking via Disney directly. It gives a good break from Disney on “down days” and we parked at Torcy RER station and took the train to Paris one day. Lots at Villages Nature for kids to do - swimming is great. There is a Villages Nature fb group for info.

@MissFizzyPop where did you stay in Val d’Europe?

We stayed here, we could see the train stop from our room window 🙂
