We have a 2 week trip booked (flghts so far) to Italy. Looking at a villa for a week near Civitella in Val di Chiana. Can anyone tell me if this area is nice, and accessible to the rest of Tuscany?

Also, our plan is 3 nights in Florence, 7 nights in the villa, and then we have 4 nights. We would like one more stop off, but not sure where? Any suggestions?

Siena is lovely for a visit - I’d give it 1-2 days. Went to the opera there in the open air which was magical. We’d never been to an opera before but we loved it!

Cinque Terre or Ligurian coast for your four nights? Although very busy in summer months. Lucca is a pleasant small town, handy for a day trip to Pisa. Volterra is a walled town on a hilltop. Vinci was more interesting than expected although busy.

We have booked a villa in the Chianti region. Due to availability, we will be heading straight to the villa. Then we will do 3 nights somewhere (?) and then our final 3 nights in Florence (it is actually 13 nights away).

I am now thinking of driving to Cinque Terra (a 3 hours drive from the villa), via Pisa in the morning and Lucca in the afternoon on the way. Is this too little time there?

I would love to see Cinque Terra but am wondering where we could stay with a car, and how you get in and out of the villages? What else could we do around there for 3 nights?

You need a few days in CT. Stay/park in La Spezia and take train or boat. Think it may be too much to do Pisa and Lucca en route.

Stop off in Lucca! You won’t regret it. A mini Florence without the Americans. You can rent bicycles and cycle around the city walls. Gigi’s do a great lunch.

Cinque terre is horrendous and not worth a visit unless you love hordes of tourists, an inauthentic experience and bad restaurants. Sorry just saw that bit.

We have decided on Forte dei Marmi, north of Lucca, as our beach stint.

Four days in Lucca would be perfect. You don't have to rush around everywhere, OP, just relax and actually enjoy where you are visiting.

Lucca is a magical gem

I agree, Lucca is great! I stayed in a tiny town called Monte Carlo (not the French one obvs) and it was beautiful.
