Hoping for some recommendations for things to do in berlin with children age 10-16
Any hotel recommendations would be helpful. There will be 5 people so most hotels need 2 rooms but any other options welcome. Which is the best place to stay? Will be over winter so darker evenings
Thank you in advance

Not sure I'd pick Berlin as a place for children

For older children I absolutely would but I’d caution against winter as so bloody cold

Our hotel was near the Jewish museum and that was surprisingly interesting, but not sure about kids again

All the kids I know have the strangest fascination with the Ampelmann. It’s lovely.

Our kids loved it. Similar ages to the OPs. Absolutely loads to do there.

Yeah, but they need to have a keen idea of history to get the most out of it, but there we are

We did a weekend in Berlin in December 2 years ago, it was below freezing. Layer up incl. very warm boots, thermals and hat/scarves/thermal gloves.

I would honestly recommend going later.

The markets are good though, we loved the one at the Red Townhall (Rotes Rathaus) but it will be very busy at the weekends.

Berlin is absolute suitable for children, especially teens/pre-teens. Depending on their understanding I would maybe split and do Sachsenhausen or Plötzensee only with the older ones though.

We are Germans and managed to explain our DD plenty of WWII and the German separation before she ever did these topics in school. Some things you obviously have to be more sensitive and there are age recommendations for a reason.

I have no doubt they will be absolutely fine. They have explored lots of different places and manage to find something to amuse them.
And if not its not the end of the world tp be bored for an afternoon - we've all had to cope with that at some point!

Thank you. Will look into that hotel too.
We are only there a few days - from the sounds of most of the comments we will need to book a return trip (in the summer)
