Looking for Christmas escape ideas (no cruises!)

I’m starting to plan early and would love some inspiration.
Can anyone recommend a great holiday destination to escape the UK during Christmas week next year? Looking for up to a week away, ideally somewhere that feels like a proper break from routine.
Open to different vibes — sunshine, culture, festive-but-different, or even wintery-but-special — just not a cruise.
Where have you been that worked well over Christmas, or where would you go if you could choose anywhere?
All suggestions welcome!

Madeira. Pleasantly warm, but can rain. Lots to see & do.

Canaries is the obvious answer for shorter (4 hours) flying times and affordability, the Caribbean is you don’t mind longer flights and it costs a bit more. I like Scotland myself, in the mountains for a short break but I do like snow (far from guaranteed). We are probably going to be in Finland which will be snowy and likely really cold (apart from the sauna obsession)

South spain in the costa del sol. Beautiful weather. Not rainy season yet. Quite cheap as its the off season

Not sure if you want warm weather or not :-) Barcelona is nice at Christmas. It's not warm - it's actually quite cold but it's a different kind of cold - very dry air, not damp. And if it's sunny the sun itself is quite warm - so you can be cold on one side and warm on the other! You can walk along the beach, cafe's and restaurants are open and it's still light until about 7pm. That's what I liked about it - the longer days - I wasn't looking for the weather. Have also been to Malaga over Christmas which is further south. And that is like Spring weather. Not hot exactly and not always sunny either, but milder. It's not a big place and not as interesting as Barcelona IMO - but it's nice and from there you can have trips to Seville for example. Also there's always Paris! Althought it will be cold and possibly wet, and it's expensive for a week - but it's still Paris - if you haven't "done" Paris before. Lots of museums and restaurants and atmosphere. I'm not a "hot country" person and really, nowhere will be "hot" unless it's the other side of the world. Iceland could also be a nice option even though cold, but also expensive.

This. Plus Malaga and the local towns have fabulous Christmas lights. Lots to see and do, good public transport if you want to get out of the city.

Barbados is wonderful at Christmas.

Well, Perth is guaranteed warmth, even proper heat, and always the most fabulous of beaches. Christmas Day itself is quiet with little open though a good lunch can be had, public transport works well to get you where you might want to go and the rest of your week can be as busy as you like.
