Butlin’s toddler week

We are planning to take my little boy to a toddler week at butlins in April, he will be 22 months, the Bognor one is much closer for us but I hear
minehead is really big. Any experience of them both and if minehead is worth the extra travel?

I haven't done Minehead or toddler week - but have found bognor plenty big enough when we've been (with 3 yo and baby, then with 4yo and older baby). So depending on how much further Minehead is I'd stick with bognor.

Fab thanks! Yes little one isn’t great in the car so if it’s equally as good the shorter distance is definitely preferable

I'd definitely stick to it then - 22 months is still very young and butlins can be very overwhelming (but great fun) - i think my 4yo would have found a bigger park too much... but like I said I've not actually been to Minehead

Bognor but stay in the hotel. I’ve taken my kids to loads of places but they still talk about butlins. The chalets look a bit grim.

@boulevardofbrokendreamsswe've stayed in comfort plus apartments both times and have been very impressed with them - very clean and modern - but not sure if they're all like that. They do look very grim from the outside though.

@littlebopeep1991if you do stay in an apartment it's worth paying the extra for ground floor. I was debating whether to the first time we went and was talked into it by lovely mumsnetters and I'll be forever thankful!

I think Bognor will be more than enough for a tots week. My older children did find the Bognor pool a bit disappointing compared to Minehead as it is more geared towards little ones splashing about.

The hotels at Bognor are really good.

I took mine to Bognor a few months ago when she was 20 months old and she loved it.

A bit overwhelmed by the pool and not all the rides were suitable, but she really liked the stuff she could do and the shows and soft play.

Will be taking her again when she’s a bit older to do the rest. In term time is a real bargain too.

Fab thanks everyone will stick to Bognor. Did you end up going for the meal plans?

Definitely go for the premium meal plan. Keeps mine full all day.

No - we did fully self catered, as we much prefer that and meant we didn't have to eat out for every meal. There are plenty of places you can eat on site if you don't fancy cooking (which I didn't).

Did you find the restaurants expensive off meal plans when you did eat out?

We’ve been to Bognor and had the best time. Def worth upgrading a bit, the basic rooms are a bit poor.

Not massively expensive- don't think it was more than if we were eating out/getting a takeaway normally. Kids ate for £1 between 12 & 3 I think (assume that's the same during toddler week, but worth checking).
