Hi, we’re planning a trip to Vietnam and I’m a bit overwhelmed trying to choose our Hanoi hotel! We’re looking for something central, quite luxey with a pool and a spa. Thanks.

Hmm that should be Melia Hotel Hanoi

The pool swung it and location.

The Sofitel metropole might work for you.

Yes, Sofitel Metropole is lovely, so much history, do the hotel history tour if you get the chance. Also the patisseries next door is divine.

Thanks I’ll check those out! I was looking at the Peridot

Sofitel looks gorgeous but maybe too luxe for us! The rest of our trip is fairly low key so we won’t have the clothes for it. So, one notch down from the Sofitel 😂

We stayed at the Lucien Lakeside. It doesn’t have a pool but it was a lovely boutique hotel

The Metropole is lovely and I wouldn't worry about needing to be smart! I think you can book on to the history tour as a non resident even if you decide to stay elsewhere.

would also recommend a walking foodie tour in Hanoi, really introduced us to stuff and places we wouldn’t have chanced on our own, and if Ho Chi Minh is on your itinerary, the scooter food tour is brilliant- hair raising but fantastic

We stayed at La Siesta Ma May. Absolutely gorgeous and amazing reviews. Spa, but no pool. However, round the corner is La Siesta Hang Thung which does also have a small pool. I would really recommend La Siesta as a chain. We also stayed at their hotel in Hoi A which was just perfect. Enjoy Vietnam - we loved it.

There is another La siesta which is their premium one in Hanoi but that doesn't have a pool. All three of them are in great locations in the heart of the Old Quarter.

And like the poster above, I would also recommend a food walking tour. It might be touristy but it is also a great way to explore the city and get your bearings.

La Siesta Premium in the Old Quarter is a strong pick. It is central, the rooms feel calm and the rooftop pool gives you a break from the chaos outside. The spa is good and the staff make the whole place feel easy to navigate.
Sofitel Legend Metropole is the classic choice if you want something more polished. It sits close to the lake, the service is steady and the pool area feels like a small escape in the middle of the city.
