I need to book a Travelodge for a few weeks time, do I do it now or hope to get a cheap price on the day?

Its a gamble because if I were to look for rooms for this Friday and Saturday night its 143 overall

If I book it now for 2 weeks time on a Friday and Saturday night its 165, 20 quid more

Do the prices get cheaper the closer to when the booking is?

Im not aufait with booking hotels, we just need a cheap stop over so I didnt want to book anything more expensive.

If it’s in a big town or city then 2 weeks time is likely to be busier with Christmas parties than this coming weekend, so unlikely to reduce (and in fact could be full).

For only £10 extra p.n., I'd book it now if it was essential I stayed in that hotel.

I book these alot with work, they work on dynamic pricing so the greater the demand the higher the price. It is likely those dates are in higher demand than this week and in my experience likely to get higher if you wait

mumofoneAloneandwell · 26/11/2025 19:37

Definitely now girl xx

We booked a hotel last week. It was £10 cheaper 2 days earlier, wish I booked it the day I first checked. Probably best book now.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 26/11/2025 20:38

I’d book it now.

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 26/11/2025 20:40

Yes, agree with others, the closer you get, the higher the price.

maudelovesharold · 26/11/2025 20:43

The closer to Christmas you get, the more expensive/fuller it’s likely to be.

soupyspoon · 26/11/2025 21:00

Ok general consensus, thanks everyone I will book this tonight

Do you have to book Travelodge?

Its the cheapest place

I want to be in the town, cheapest normal hotel I can find on booking.com is around 220. Travelodge is about 165 (or was this morning havent checked this evening)

soupyspoon · 26/11/2025 21:08

It’s worth looking on AirB&B too.

Yes we normally do an airbnb but they're more expensive for hotels that night, we normally never stay in hotels

Always book in advance for travelodge. It will be far cheaper than doing it on the day. They will often do deals in advance too, so worth checking that out.

Somersetbaker · 27/11/2025 09:52

Both Travelodge and Premier Inn have dynamic pricing, affected not just by the number of rooms already booked, but also by the number of times people have looked at a hotel for a particular night, they are also aware about concerts and sporting events. Generally the farther ahead you book, the better the deal, but not always, if rooms aren't selling they will drop the price, making £10 on a room is better than nothing, they also overbook expecting a number of cancelations and no-shows. Location is also important, city centre hotels are expensive at weekends, sometimes more than midweek, as they're convenient for clubbers to change and preload, smuggle a couple of extra people in, split the cost and it's cheaper than getting a taxi home.
