Canaries for families

We recently returned from the Princesa Yaiza in Lanzarote which we loved! We are looking for a similar experience elsewhere in the Canaries (including Playa Blanca- Princesa Yaiza doesn’t have availability when we want to go) and wondered if anyone had any tips for a similar family holiday? Thanks!

Do you want all inclusive?
Do you stay on site / in resort or do you hire a car and go out and about?

We used to do self catering in Puerto del Carmen. We had breakfast in but went out to eat otherwise. Hired a car and went wherever in the day.

Gran Melia Palacio de Isora is similar in that it’s a low-rise beach front hotel walking distance from shops and restaurants. It’s got a similar number of restaurants, excellent childcare, a gorgeous spa and kids splash pool.

We went with my sister's family last Christmas and it is very nice, I agree. Around what time are you planning to go though? My sister did a lot of research beforehand, because her toddler is kind of picky hah, but like that I have a lot of info that I can share. This one is for activities there ( I highly recommend the waterpark) https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g652121-Activities-zft11306-Playa_Blanca_Lanzarote_Canary_Islands.html , this is generally for all the canaries https://www.ferryhopper.com/en/blog/featured/winter-family-vacation-canaries but a useful guide, and this one's for the food https://www.mummytravels.com/where-to-eat-in-playa-blanca-lanzarote/. I hope this helps you out!

GF hotels in Tenerife are good for families. We stayed in the GF Victoria which was lovely but massive! They have several others in the same area. Don’t think any are AI though if that’s what you are looking for.

What aspects of PY did you like and would want to replicate? If it’s the football camp, then you’re very limited and probably looking at Dubai instead. If it’s general sports facilities for you/the DC, then, as suggested, the GF Victoria is good. I don’t know what the activities are like for young children at the GF Victoria but, for the upper primary age group, I would say the GF Victoria is perhaps better with the mini golf, ropes course and slides in the pool. The GF Victoria is a much bigger feeling hotel but it is much newer and nicer and well
kitted out.
We also did Residence Seaside Los Jameos which was nice but no where near as high a standard as PY or GF Victoria

Thanks so much all for your replies. This is really helpful. DD is nearly 4 and DS 4 months so looking for activities like swimming, mini disco etc. we would prefer a hotel to self catering and probably half board, thanks so much for all the tips

Depending on when in the year you’re going, the main thing to look for is whether the swimming pool is heated. If it’s not, your DD just won’t go in the pool.
Other things to check with DC of that age are what time breakfast is served from and the same for dinner.
Given how young your DC are, I think you have a bigger range of options than just the £££ places like PY & GF Victoria which really come into their own once your DC are primary aged. Some of the Tui family range places might be ideal.
