Legoland with an almost three year old?

Hi all.

We are considering a trip to Legoland with DDs. One will be three in November the other isn't one yet (not worried about youngest as most things entertain her!) Do you think there is enough to do with the eldest? Will she be able to go on any rides? If not, can you recommend anywhere similar - we live in West London, but will travel (prob not more than a hour though) Oh and we're going on a Saturday!

Thanks!

I've not been but heard from friends the queing is unreal and ruins the day

Have you thought about thomasland at drayton manor? again not been but have seen threads here highly recommending.

Our dd went just after the age of 3 and loved it. Loads of rides are suitable for little ones. (check their website for restrictions etc). She will be able to go on lots of things with a parent, and quite a lot of rides if she is 90cm tall.

I think it is free admission for under 3s. If she will go in a buggy (even if not usually) that will help as it can be tiring walking round.

If you go on a Saturday arrive as they are opening - e.g. aim for 9.30 ish as gates open at 10am. By the time you have walked to the gate from the car park it will be opening time.

Ime it gets busier from lunchtime onwards. Also it is v expensive even for adult tickets - I would suggest trying to get vouchers (Tesco clubcard for example do a fab deal)

We took our eldest there when he was 3 (4 years ago now) and it was great. Lots that they can do.

If you check the website, I think they have all the things that have height restrictions.

I'd say too young to benefit from most things tbh.

And agree with the queues particularly on a weekend.

I'd go when they are older and both will enjoy all it has to offer.

take advantage of the fact that you can go in term time and go before Scottish and Irish schools close at the end of this month. Then there is achnace it will be quieter. You will have a ball abut queues can be really long - get there ealy and go round the 'wong' way - turn right when you get in through main gates and don't follow everyone else going left! Take your picnic and food and drinks are horrendously expensive. Don't pay full price - we went with tesco vouchers

I'd tend to agree with aDad.

Agree with aDad too!

In our experience it is normal to queue for between 20-45mins for each 3 min ride. Even our six year old worked out that this wasn't worth it!!

Have rels living locally, who never go there as it just frustrates their kids.

Having said that if yours are patient and don't mind standing still then I'm sure you'll have a great time!

I take my daughter to Chessington all the time she is 2.5. you have to go in the week during term time and I find theee are no queues. There are loads of rides to take them on, bubble wirks, elephants, little boats, tiny truckers and a few more. I must say though dont take little ones at busy times as they cant handle the long waits.I bought an annual pass for just over £1oo, it gets you in to Chessington, Thorp Park, Alton towers, Legoland and loads of other stuff with unlimited access. its amazing how quickly you start saving money. really want to go to thomas Land at drayton manor and stay over night. it sounds fab.

pootleflump · 12/06/2008 13:04

I think 3 is a perfect age for legoland, we recently took dd who's 3.5 and she could go on everything except the water flumes as she didn't quite make the height requirement.

I don't know what the queues are like normally- it snowed on the morning that we went so the place was empty and we didn't queue for a thing- it was fab!

hana · 12/06/2008 13:07

depends on how tall they are. dd2 is a short 3 year old and can only do a small handful of things at the park.
If you don't have passes through clubcard points I'd wait til she was older tbh, it's an expensive day out to only access a few things.

We went back in May (a Friday) and only queued for one ride - walked straight on to all the rest. Was brilliant. Check the height restrictions though - they need to be over 90 cm to go on most things. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day. We used a 2 for 1 Woolworths voucher to get in.
