FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My 3year old and my 48 year old hubby had a ball.

Brand new, excellent rides, great staff, brilliant fat controller who spoke to the kids throughout the day.....just totally excellent family day out.

My little boy was so excited about everything it made us well up.

If youre thinking about going....GO, GO, GO NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went midweek for DS' birthday, and he and his friend both loved it and keep asking to go back. My one criticism would be the lack of trains - apart from the actual train ride, and the Lady carousel, there were just some (slightly odd) half trains buried into the wall in the middle.

But they loved the huge adventure playground, and were thoroughly entertained for the best part of 6 hours. As a theme park aimed at children it was great. DH also enjoyed the "proper" rides that he went on.

cornflakegirl · 20/06/2008 22:24

Oh, and midweek there were very few queues.

do you pay extra for thomasland or is it included with admission to drayton manor?

PortBlacksandResident · 20/06/2008 22:44

It's all on the one ticket - DM, Thomas land and Zoo.

I had to ask someone who had been - they need to know it's unclear.

lazarou · 24/06/2008 20:15

I saw this thread the other day and since I was curious we took the kids today. It's fantastic isn't it? Except, the rides look tamer than they actually are!!!
My two year old was absolutely petrified on the roller coaster, and my three year old is scarred for life after the dragon boat ride.

blithedance · 24/06/2008 20:31

When we went, DH was ill and dizzy after a trip on Harold the Helicopter. Kids were fine and loved it.

Would try to avoid busy times/school hols if possible, but it is a great day out.

Tip is to make for the zoo first, play in the new playground then get on Thomas/Percy's train at the zoo station - saves queuing at the main station.

Gotta remember it is only a theme park though. If you want real trains (steam, smells, loud noises and greasy drivers) you still have to go somewhere just up the road like this.

lazarou · 24/06/2008 21:10

Oh dear, ds1 keeps crying about the dragon and the boats. HE has made us promise never to go on a boat again, and he keeps saying 'I don't like dragons'

ceebee74 · 24/06/2008 21:13

Those of you that have been, how suitable is it for a 2-year old? We really want to take DS for his second birthday as he is completely Thomas-obsessed but is there enough there to keep him entertained?

lazarou · 24/06/2008 21:18

My two year old didn't really enjoy the rides, except for the merry go rounds and the pirates water ride. By that stage my three year old was too traumatised to go on another boat!
He loved the thomas and percy train though. I think there is enough to keep a two year old entertained.

blithedance · 24/06/2008 23:22

If your 2 year old is really into Thomas, he will probably just love the "spectacle" of it, and going on the gentler rides as Lazarou said. It is beautifully themed and the rides are very colourful and easy to watch - that will probably be enough for him. There is also "Emily's Soft Play" and "Neville's Playground" at the far end of the railway.

Mine would have stood all day watching Thomas and Percy turn round on the turntable - have a picture of them gazing on adoringly.

lazarou · 25/06/2008 17:41

Oh, and if you go on the helicopter ride, the white button makes the plane go up. I wondered why we spent the entire ride just whizzing along the ground. I was ready to tell the poor bloke off for not lifting us up.

lazarou · 25/06/2008 17:49

And i don't want to alarm anyone but I saw a man in a shellsuit, and nobody was wearing brogues.

sfxmum · 25/06/2008 17:49

we will be going up north on the first weekend of July and might be able to go on Sunday for a couple of hrs

  • is it worth it?
or will the wait for rides make it a waist of time? TIA dd is Thomas mad
